Controlling A/V receiver volume with XBOX One controller...

I would like to control the volume on my Yamaha A/V receiver via the controller but can't find a straight answer. I was able to find that in order to change channels using OneGuide for my Comcast service, I either need a Kinect or an IR blaster connected
to the XBone. Would either of these allow for volume adjustment? If not, I'm better off saving money by not buying the IR or Kinect and just using my harmony remote. But I am hoping I can use the Xbox controller instead.

Forgive me if this post is redundant, but I've searched high and low and can't find a direct answer...

    Current set-up:

    Comcast X1 box ----> Xbox One ----> Yamaha A/V ----> TV

I can watch TV through Xbox but can only change channels via Comcast remote (found solution stated above).

I have the Xbox configured to turn all equipment off and on.

    :)

Need help setting up Sony surround sound with Xbox One

I have a Sony receiver (STRDA5300ES) and the Xbox One controls the receiver just fine. On/off, volume, and mute all work. It turns the tv on/off also, but does not control tv when I say volume up or mute. I put the receiver model in when I did the initial set up. Not sure how it assumes I use that for the volume and not the tv. Only thing I can think is somehow the IR port on your receiver is obstructed.

My Uverse remote will not control my Denon AVR-2112ci volume

After installing the XBOX One my Uverse remote no longer controls my receiver volume. When I volume up or down it appears to be controlling the XBOX volume rather than my receiver making no change to the outputted volume. Also, when I select Mute the XBOX
screen freezes rather than muting the receiver. My Receiver Remote still works for volume but it is an inconvenience to again have to use more that one remote. My Smart Glass and voice commands also work for the volume and mute.

    Cable Box: Uverse

    Receiver: Denon AVR-2112ci

Thank you for any suggested fixes to the issue I am experencing.

Controlling A/V receiver volume with XBOX One controller...

After more research, the point is moot because regardless of changing the channels, there is no control of pause, rewind, etc. for the STB, and no A/V receiver menu adjustments (surround type, speaker level, etc.). The ultimate solution is the Logitech Harmony
Home Hub 915-000238 on the website that has a "smile" in the logo. I got it overnight for less than $75 total. I can control EVERYTHING from my smartphone. Yes, EVEN THE XBOX!!! Plus all kinds of other smart devices! This thing is LEGIT! No more having 20
    remotes laying around!

    Hi DrBlingDaddy,

I also wanted to point out that connecting to your device using the Xbox One app, you an also adjust the volume here.

The other solution is if you have Kinect, there is also a voice command as the Kinect also has an IR blaster.

Otherwise, you are unable to adjust the TV volume / set top box volume using the Xbox controller.

Please also be advised that if an issue should occur with the 3rd party hardware, it is down to the manufacturer and not Microsoft to fix.

    I hope this information helps

My Uverse remote will not control my Denon AVR-2112ci volume

Unfortunately there is nothing blocking it. My Uverse remote will control the XBox volume but not receiver. The following is a link to a similar situation: www.avsforum.com/.../xbox-one-snap-tv-game-volume-control-issues

Smart Glass and all of my other remotes control the receiver volume without issue. The only thing I can think of is a bad remote code but I cannot find the code for my receiver to manually input to Xbox.

At a lost and frustrated not being able to use my Uverse remote for volume.

Can not control volume on both TV and AV Receiver at the same time

    Hi yoyoyojo99,

Sorry you're having issues with your volume control. When you enable the A/V receiver controls the Xbox is going to default power to that as it thinks you're only using that for your sounds. As such it's not going to send vol up and down to both your
    TV and Receiver.

    Hope this helps!

Can I connect Xbox One directly to a sound bar?

I have a Vizio soundbar connected to my TV. I ran the Audio Receiver Setup on the Xbox One and now the X1 powers on/off the soundbar along with my entire TV/DVR system.

As for volume control, if you've ran the Audio Receiver Setup then you can control the Soundbar via either voice commands or the Xbox One Smartglass App (the volume controls on Smartglass will no longer control the TV volume, however, as they'll become dedicated
to the soundbar--I presume the same may be me true for voice commands).
