Controllers

Discus and support Controllers in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; Vaynel is correct, replacing parts on the 360 controllers would void the warranty as it was considered the same as opening up the console by yourself... Discussion in 'XBoX on Consoles' started by fuelldbyhate, Jun 2, 2015.

Vaynel is correct, replacing parts on the 360 controllers would void the warranty as it was considered the same as opening up the console by yourself to repair. Not sure if they still consider it the same on the Xbox One, but I guess warranty doesn't really
matter if it's out and you've found a good 3rd party for cheaper for repairs.

My day one controller is still going strong and I've dropped it on a hard surface more than once. It definitely doesn't feel as solid as the 360, but it's definitely taking much longer to wear out, especially the sticks.

2.
That would be news to me, Vaynel, as I wasn't aware of any such policy. Still, according to my source, he used all official parts.
I would suggest asking in the Ambassador section of the forum for a response from a Microsoft
staff member, you're more likely to find one there after all, as to if it is okay to recommend people send their controllers to third party repair shops.

It used to be that controllers were considered part of the system, so opening them was system tampering. Things could have changed though, which is why I think it is a good idea to get an official response.

Edit: Ninja'd by a Assassin.....makes sense really Controllers ;)

If it is purely cosmetic (thumb sticks, shells etc) I don't think Microsoft really care but modifications to the circuit board would be seen as frowned apon. Obviously opening a controller voids the warranty.

Controllers

I have 2 day one controllers, dog has had a chew at one and there both going strong, no issues what so ever, people use their controllers differently, they use different pressure which to them is normal so some will go though more than others.

Fueled by hate, indeed.

Always check the warranty of the accessories with Microsoft - I believe they issue a 6 month warranty period. I could be wrong, but it's worth a check.

6. Controllers are 3 months. I'm having this same issue-mine is the XB1 Special Forces controller. I stopped using my Day One Edition controller because I purchased that controller. I was talking with one of my clan buddies tonight and he had the same issue
and he contacted Microsoft and was told the warranty was 3 months on controllers.

Destiny was the problem with my controller; on my PS3 it was COD. I purchased 3 controllers for it since 2011.

If you have decent tools skills and access to solder and a soldering iron, those analog stick switches can be replaced. The switches can be purchased on e-bay and look to google for instructional videos. I have one 360 controller that I've replaced the
analog stick switches on three times!

LOL @ a certain forum member inciting others to break the TOC's ;-) (I know I shouldn't laugh but just cant help it)

I totally agree with the sentiment that its not the controllers are poorly made necessarily but that users are all different and use different amounts of force, and therefore each users experience will be different. I have never needed to replace a controller
apart from one on the 360.

its the controllers they are made very cheaply, believe me I played with both 360 & now these cheaper xbox ones, they last 6 months at the most, I been treating these ones with kit gloves since day one too, my older 360 well those ones were not only easier
to open an even swap out older parts or CLEAN, but they also took a terrible beating LOL many times I used to chuck those across the room while I was playing Bad Co 2 OR BF3!

I heard some time ago that they would be upgrading the ability to add a controller of your choice, via one of those wireless plugs that are commonly used for wireless mice, like the one I have for my logitech game controller that is very strong an well built,
even though it looks more like a PlayStation controller it's built to last.

Left stick doesn't. Work correctly

Do you by chance have a second controller signed in, that is pushing up?

On the main Xbox menus, multiple controllers are "fighting" over the control of the dashboard, and every controller can move the cursor.

When you start a game, each controller is assigned to a specific player, and only that player is controlled. So if a second controller is always pushing up, it won't affect control in a game of the first controller anymore.
