Controllers won't connect to recently purchased used Xbox 360.

Hello Forum,

Just bought a used Xbox 360 after my old one started to break down. Problem is, my controllers aren't connecting to it. I have tried both buttons to connect on the Xbox and on the controller itself.

Is there any way I can fix this issue without buying a cable?

Connection problem

I recently bought an original Xbox one console and two Xbox one s controllers. I tried to set up the system, but my controllers won't connect to the system l. How can I fix this?

Xbox One controller/Compatibility.

Nope, the Xbox 360 controllers won't work with the Xbox One. The Xbox 360 controllers use IR to connect to the console, whilst the Xbox One uses WiFi direct (way faster than IR).

I'm sorry to see any controller issues with the replacement console! If it's used, that may be why it was given to a retailer. To double check everything, be sure to try out our troubleshooting steps in our Xbox
360 Wireless Controller disconnects or can’t connect support article.

If that doesn't help out, I would suggest taking it back to the retailer to see if you can get another used console. Bring your controllers to see if they will let you test the controllers before you complete the purchase.

Xbox 360 controllers will not connect wirelessly to a computer. If you are trying to use a Play-and-Charge cable to connect through USB, that is not what it is designed for and won't be compatible. If you really want to use an xbox controller on your computer
I would recommend either purchasing an adapter build to do this, or one of the controllers out there that are built for PC.
