    How do I fix a problem with the controllers not working when streaming?

    As my son's Xbox now has a broken HDMI port (13 months after a broken hard drive which was 13 months after purchase!) he is only able to play when streaming to a PC.

    The streaming app used to work perfectly then today, after an update to the Xbox the box is not responding to the controllers on the PC. The controllers can be used on the PC perfectly but when streaming they do not control the box.

    Overall owning an Xbox has been one of the most disappointing purchases ever. Microsoft's answer to everything is the box needs a repair which costs about the same as a new console.

    If this can't be fixed then we will have to start saving for a playstation!

    We understand your sentiment when using the controller on PC. This is not the experience that Microsoft wishes you to have. As your support advisor, let us check on this together so you will get back to gaming.

    As per your description, this issue happened after an Xbox update. To better isolate the issue we will ask for few things.

    May we know what Xbox app did an update? Is it the Xbox app or Xbox Accessories app or Xbox Console Companion?

    Would you mind what streaming app your son is using?

    May we confirm if your son is using Xbox controller?

    Typically this happens when you’re playing in a window and the window is not prioritized. Click in the game window and usually fixes it for me

    Ok, so I figured out that to get game audio/chat to work while streaming, we had to hook the controller up to the computer we are streaming to via USB. The headset stayed plugged into the controller. Yay! Game audio AND chat!

    NEXT PROBLEM: there seems to be no way to control game volume/chat volume while streaming. We have mute chat at the top, but that is all. The computer volume controls do not affect the stream, and the volume controls on the controller adapter also seem to
