Controllers no longer connecting after PC use

Last Saturday, I used my wireless controller with my PC. I used the official Xbox cord to connect it. I have a wired controller, but I can't use my headset with it so I was forced to use this one. Now, after that single use my controller no longer connects
to my Xbox. I dropped it, so I thought maybe I had broken it. So, I used my other wireless controller the other night for the same purpose. Now, both of them will not work or connect in any way to my Xbox. Even if they're attached by cord.

Has anyone had this issue and solved it? I've literally tried everything. I've changed batteries, I have it hooked up, I tried resyncing it, etc... Now I have two useless controllers I'd like to use

If you are using the charging cable to connect the controller to the PC to play games, then that is not possible. The cable will only charge the rechargeable battery, it will not let you connect and play games. You need the Xbox 360 wireless controller
adapter to be able to connect the controller to your PC. Microsoft no longer manufacture them, so your only option is to purchase a used one or a 3rd party one.

This is how I have connected my remote in the past when I used it with my computer, just by connecting the USB to the computer and into the controller. For some reason this has stopped working though and no longer turns on the remote when I plug it in

The Xbox One controller uses a different signal than that of the Xbox360 controller, you can however connect a Micro-USB cable from your controller to your PC after installing the drivers for the Xbox One controller.

(Windowsphones and Android phones usually use a microUSB which you can also use for your controller)

Just remember to take out your batteries before connecting it via USB

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand your controller will not connect to your PC any longer. We recommend going through the guide for

connect wireless controller to PC. The guide has many troubleshooting links within. Have you got a new controller, and it possibly not Bluetooth?
