  1. Controller's micro-USB port already broken?

I've had my Xbox for a little while now. I am gentle with my controllers and no damage has come to them. However, without warning I was playing and charging my controller at the same time when the Xbox suddenly advises me that my controller was no longer
    connected.

To my surprise, the charging cable failed when it was gently pressed upwards (causing the plug tip to go downwards inside the controller) and the entire port was very loose.

I've tested this now with three cables, all do the same thing so it is definitely a busted port.

Nothing has happened to this controller to be broken so easily!

Why sell something called "charge and play" if playing while it charges breaks the bloody controller?

I would like an answer, if not a replacement...

    :)

On the controller's end, you have the micro USB cable plugged into the actual controller itself, as opposed to the micro USB port for the recharge kit battery, right?

    It's the same port.

    Controller's micro-USB port already broken?

I have a similar problem with 2 controllers. The first controller started disconnecting while it was plugged up if the cord was slightly moved. I bought a new cord but still the same. I ended up buying a whole new controller and charge and play kit and life
was good for around 6 months then about 4 days ago I started having the same issue with the new controller. It will charge while playing aslong as I don't move to much. If I set the controller down flat it disconnects, the cord has to be bent down or something
pressed against it. Im not rough with my controllers in any way so im positive this is a production flaw. I never had to replace either the original xbox controller or the 360's during their whole life spans but in less than 2 years with the xbone im about
to have to buy my 3rd. Why they decided to use a mini usb connecter is beyond me, anyone with a phone with that could tell them that was a bad idea.

  6. I actually found a charger that energized made for the controllers that takes the usb out of the equation entirely. It charges the battery through a tiny hole in the new battery panel lid that it provides. Saved me from having to buy new controllers. You
can't charge and play at the same time...but it doesn't break in a few months. I will say I emailed Xbox about it and they were actually willing to replace my broken controller though...as long as I paid to ship it to them first. Just some info for ya there.

Sounds like the charging port/micro usb port on the controller is broken. So the controller is not getting enough charge and why it turns off immediately. But then you say it doesn't work with batteries also so the controller itself is broken then. Did
    you check for corrosion?

Broken Xbox One controller - Detective wanted -

It could be any of those 3 things mentioned. The play-and-charge cable might be broken, the micro usb port could be faulty, or a bad update. I had similar issues and in my case(s) it was the cable itself and also a bad update that broke one controller(only
worked when plugged in after update). I had received a replacement controller with a bad micro usb port as well, so test it on a spare controller.
