Controllers disconnects at random times

My controllers disconnect at random times during gameplay and then immediately reconnect. The console's manufacturing date is labeled as 2014-1-25.

Just so it's on record, these are the troubleshooting items I've tried with no success:

• I've updated my controllers to the latest firmware - as of today's latest firmware (06-24-2014)

• Tried two separate controllers (one that came with the xbox unit and a separate one that I purchased)

• Re-synced the two controllers multiple times with the hardware buttons

• Replaced batteries with brand new batteries (plug and charge kits, rechargeable AAs, and standard AAs)

• Keeping it in line of sight of the Kinect (which is almost a deal-breaker for me is that's the problem)

• Removing/unplugging the Kinect

• Hard rebooting multiple times

• Moving the xbox unit to where there would be little-to-no interference

I haven't had any luck other than using a long USB cable. It's a work-around but at least it's an option for now. Still deciding on whether to send mine in for repairs or replacement (the controllers or the actual xbox one unit). Seems like many other people
continued to have trouble, even after sending theirs in to get the problem fixed on multiple different units.

My batteries fit snuggly inside the controllers so I don't believe it's a loose battery issue.

I really would prefer not to go through the hassle of exchanging consoles multiple times as many have experienced on the forum. Especially if there isn't an advanced replacement. This has been extremely frustrating.

Xbox one controller and Wi-Fi connection disconnecting at the same time

My controller and Wi-Fi are disconnecting from my Xbox one at random times. The controller will disconnect, and then the Wi-Fi connection will disconnect, making online gaming impossible. I have tried resetting the controllers, Xbox one, and router, but
nothing has resolved the issue. I have also used two different controllers with the same issue. I am playing on an original 500gb Xbox one with a standard controller. I have an At&t U-verse router. I have not had problems with any of these before now.

How do i reset it? And yeah it just disconnects at random times.

 

Same here. Also, after like around 30 minutes of playing, the battery percentage goes from full to in the red. Microsoft really needs to fix this asap.

 

Doesn't matter if you exchange or not, it will still happen. There are many users with the same issues. Microsofts silence on the matter is pushing a fair few of them to the PS4. I honestly suggest you consider getting a refund and doing the same if Microsoft
persist on being silent about the issue.

 

I have three controllers (two that use an Energizer charging stand and one that just gets charged up via USB) and do not have these issues with any of them. So I disagree that "it will still happen" if you exchange them and/or get to the bottom of what is
causing this.

Do you have any sort of cover on the controllers? I don't think this would cause this problem but you never know. Does it disconnect while you're holding the controller and actively playing a game or is it when you set the controller down for a second or
hand it to someone else for any reason?

 

You do realise he has already tried using a new control pad, right?

Short of replacing the system there is likely little replacing the control pad, again, will do. There is a good chance replacing the system may result in the same issue as it has for a lot of other people.

You really need to see the bigger picture. There are many, many, people with this issue. And it's getting more likely that it's something to do with the Xbox software itself, either the OS or control pad firmware, that is causing this issue (though why exactly
it is not affecting everyone is a mystery). There are many, many people that have had these issues, replaced control pads, and even systems, only to have the exact same issues occur over and over again.

I'm now officially on my third control pad and my second console. I still have this exact issue occur.

You may not have a problem, for whatever reason (and I for one wish that there was a way we could find out what exactly that was), but unfortunately it does happen to others and it is an issue on a pretty large scale that needs to be taken into account.

 

Yes @UnrealMalware I read the original post and saw where he said he had tried two separate controllers. Did I indicate otherwise? Or do you think maybe I was just commenting on my own personal experience?

Luke- Another question.. does this occur only when you have a headset attached? Or only without? Or does it happen regardless of whether or not a headset is attached?

 

Actually yes, I think you are obviously commenting on your own experience. Otherwise you wouldn't bring it up. That's pretty much a given.

And quite clearly you did indicate otherwise, because you disagreed on the point that replacing the controller wouldn't do anything, based on your own experience, when it had already been pointed out that the controller had been changed already.

There's an 80+ page thread on the issue of disconnecting control pads. Read it. You will see just how much of an issue this is and also how no one seems to have found a fix for this issue. Even replacing systems eventually leads to it persisting at some
point or another.

On the off chance you and he gets lucky and finds the fix everyone else has been looking for, post it in that thread and do the rest of the community a favour.

 

It doesn't seem to matter whether the headset is attached or not. I'm down to using a USB cable-only at the moment and I'm still contemplating sending in the console for repairs and hoping I'm one of the "lucky ones" that gets a correctly functioning console.

What about these:

• Your controller is out of range. Xbox One controllers are designed to operate within 30 feet (9.1 meters) of the console.
  
• Another wireless device (such as a microwave oven, a cordless phone, or a wireless router) is interfering with the wireless controller's connection to the console.
  
• Metallic objects (such as a chrome faceplate, metal dividers, shelves, or doors of an entertainment center) that are positioned between the console and the wireless controller are causing interference with the wireless
  controller's connection to the console.
• Your Xbox One hardware is malfunctioning.

I assume you're not 30 feet or more away from your console (LOL) but the second and third bullets are definitely ones to consider. Several years back I had a roommate with a Wii and any time he would use it, wireless throughout the apartment would go out.
Same thing used to happen with our microwave. It's crazy (and frustrating) how some of this stuff interferes sometimes.

Hopefully it's not the console but I guess that's a possibility too if you don't find that tinkering with the above mentioned items is helping at all.
