Controllers blinking but not working

My son got a refurbished Xbox One from Gamestop recently with two controllers but the controllers just blink and won't work even when we replace the batteries. We tried pushing the sync button on the console but that had no affect, tried turning the system
on and off but it keeps happening. He has gotten it to work after multiple attempts but then it just seems to do it again. We're looking for an answer. thanks.

Hi, unfortunately your solution is not working. I repeated your steps few times, but still the controllers are only blinking

 

Xbox One controller for PC chatpad not working, light blinking orange

same issue here on my end. xbox elite controller was updating then it closed out then prompted me to redo the update it finished and orange light kept blinking. tried 3.5mm controller update went through no issue but light still blinking. controllers work
no problem but chatpad still not working. if it helps i did it over wireless on elite and usb with 3.5mm controller. hopefully op has a fix by now not finding anything on youtube about this.

literally had the same issue . . . xbox offered no solutions . . . told me to buy another controller . . . excellent customer service. I'm sorry you spent your hard earned money on a defective product.

You'd want to try the guide that Genesis1953 posted to ensure you're pairing the controller properly. If it's not working we'd recommend this guide.

Xbox One Wireless controller can't connect Be sure to try it with different controllers, if the guide doesn't help, it's very possible the console may need service.
