Controller working intermittent even on USB

I looked everywhere, tried everything. We just bought an xbox one x for christmas with 2 controllers. The one works great. The problematic one was good until a couple days ago.

the controller can start the xbox, works for 10-60seconds then no controls work at all, can’t even turn the controller off. then randomly will occasionally work again for 10-60seconds.

i’ve swapped batteries with the good Controller, didn’t work.

i’ve tried plugging it directly into the xbox with a USB, it Vibrates to acknowledge connection but doesn’t work either.

i tried looking for a device update, but there were none

is my controller pooched?

you could try assigning the controllers per account see if it helps.

Hey, so i tried everything to update the controllers but when i got through settings > system > devices and streaming > accessories.

When i get there it never loads anything and is the infinite loading loop and I can’t find anything as to why that would be

Try Setting up a headset adapter.
Also Update your controller firmware
are two support links for further steps to take.

The controller firmware update is especially important for console streaming if you are in a Insider preview.

Run the firmware update on all controllers. USB method is my preference.

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to deal with this situation and further troubleshoot the controller. I can totally understand how this could throw anyone off.

You mentioned having two controllers, are you unable to get to the Accessories
setting with both of them?

If you cannot, I would try going toSettings> Devices and Streaming> Blu-ray> persistent storage
in the Xbox One Guide and clearing that three times. Once that has been done, go to
Settings> General> Network Settings> Advanced Settings> Alternate MAC address, clearing that and letting your console restart as a quick and easy troubleshooting step.
