Controller wont update!

So I've been having an issue where my controller does not update. It recognizes that a controller is plugged in, but when it goes to the update in progress screen, it immediately stops and says "there was a problem updating your controller"

I've tried the following:

Removed the battery pack, re inserted it and tried updating- failed

Used just the USB cable with no battery pack installed- failed

Attempted the update with and without the headset plugged in- failed either way

Long pressed the xbox button to turn the console off, unplugged everything from the xbox for 5 minutes, restarted and tried to update- failed

Cleared the MAC address, restarted the system and tried to update (suggested on the help chat)- failed

Used a different USB cable and different USB ports on the xbox- failed

As a side note, it used to update just fine, then about a month ago it stopped working, so I know its been able to take updates in the past

I don't have a second controller to try the update and that's what was recommended to do next, either borrowing one or purchasing a new one (which is crap, they aren't exactly cheap) to isolate the problem to the controller or the console. The console is
updated with the latest firmware according to the support website but there's no information on the controller firmware versions. Anyone know if there's a way to find the latest firmware? And, does anyone know if its possible to force an update, say through
Windows on a PC? The controller doesn't really have any issues other than the headset intermittently doesn't work, meaning my party's voices do not come through the headset and the microphone doesn't work, and the forums and supports say to make sure the controller
has the latest update.. which I can't do. Any way around this or am I stuck buying an expensive controller because my 1 year warranty expired?

And this is just food for thought, if my car can have a 3 year/36000 mile warranty, why not my expensive technology? If Ford is confident enough to stand behind their product for 3 years, does Microsoft not have that confidence in their products? Just sayin..

Controller will not turn on

I tried to update controller the update failed the controller turned off and wont turn on any help. and yes batteries are good

 

plug and play not working properly

controller disconnected out of the blue,update controller,plug and play wont work + it wont connect to console.plug controller into pc and wait for rumble to stop......lo and behold,plug and play will work and controller will connect to console.WTF is up
with that???????
