    Controller won't update - Tried using 10+ cables still won't work


    Before I begin, yes I have already searched the forums and tried the standard solutions(turn off system, press power button to drain power, wait 5 min, take out batteries, plug into system, turn on system). None of that worked.

    My issue is that I cannot update my controller with any cable I have tried, I have tried over 10 micro USB cables and each time Xbox One says it cannot detect a controller, yet the controller is powered by the cable since the batteries are out and the controller
    is lit up still...

    I have a Turtle Beach Stealth 500x headset connected to my Xbox One(which works perfectly), I used the micro USB cable that I was using with my headset and the Xbox still doesn't detect that I have a controller plugged. But yet the same cable works with
    my headset's receiver that is connected to the Xbox....

    I have tried using the different USB ports(including the port that my headset was using) and nothing works.

    Is there anything else I can try or am I just out of luck?

    Xbox one controller won't update

    I've tried that...it still says the usb cable is disconnected from the controller and won't allow the update to happen.

    Xbox One controller won't turn on

    After the new preview update my controller won't turn on. I've tried everything new batteries usb cable the 10 seconds reset and still i can't get it to work. When i press the xbox button the light turns on dim and when i let go it turns off instantly
    please help i don't know what else to do.

    Hey there Camp Nowhere,

    I'm sorry to hear about the controller issue. Thanks for posting in detail, as it helps us better understand what you're experiencing. When you have a moment to answer, I have a few questions to run past you.

    1. If you have access to some, have you tried updating other controllers on your Xbox One?
    2. If possible, have you tried updating the troubled controller on a different Xbox One controller?
    3. Have you tried updating the controller with fresh batteries with a USB cord?
    In the meantime, I would suggest trying out the steps below in this particular order to see if we can get things sorted.

    • Power cycle your Xbox One console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will power down.
    • When the console is off, unplug your console from the power source. Leave everything unplugged for about 3 minutes.
    • Now plug everything back in and turn the console on.
    • Try updating your Xbox One controller again.
    Please post back and let us know the results of the troubleshooting and the answers to my questions above. Thanks in advance!

    It didn't work, but connecting the controller to the xbox with a cable does. If I don't use a cable then the xbox won't maintain a connection with the controller. Hopefully an update will fix this issue.

    The cable works flawlessly with my original controller that has NOT been updated but won't work with the updated new controller... So that being said I believe the cable is fine..

    Warning ! Do not brick your controller . New controller update procedure stay away like the plague.

    I will say that I updated both my controllers using the procedure. I did one using the play-and-charge cable (worked fine) and also one using the box-included cable (also worked fine.) You won't need the update without the adapter and (in my experience at
    least) it won't prompt you to update UNLESS you have the new adapter or stereo headset attached to the controller. While these are the support forums, have you attempted to contact support directly and see about getting the non-functioning controller swapped?

    yo you gotta sadly use the steareo cable and plug it into the bottom of the controller... the wirless feature won't work for xbox... sorry... still works great tho
