    Controller wont turn on after Switching from USB to batteries back to USB


    I usually play just connected to a usb. no batteries in. i felt lazy and needed to charge my phone. so i put batteries in my controller and used my usb for my phone, then when my batteries died and my phone was charged i put the usb back in but it didnt
    work. controller wont reconize that there is a usb in it. ive used 3 usbs. all the cords work. but not for the controller. it wont turn on

    Xbox one controller dead after pressing update

    I plugged my old Xbox one controller into my new Xbox one s and saw there was an available update. when i have pressed it my controller turned off and now wont turn back on even after changing batteries or plugging in via usb. any help?

    Hey Petebary,

    So you say the controller now does not turn on once you plug it in, just vibrates when you insert it. The USB connection to the controller is how it powers up so would you mind trying to put in some batteries into the controller to see if it simply turns
    on?

    When you hold down the Xbox button on the controller it will start flashing. As long as the light is on, the controller is being powered.

    If there is no power connected with USB or with batteries, the controller will need to be exchanged. If there is power with batteries, then maybe you should try a different USB cable.

    If the controller is able to turn on with batteries then you may need to try connecting using Bluetooth, Wireless or another USB cable.

    Controller/Xbox bug

    Hello again, if you have a USB cable, try to follow the procedures bellow.

    First remove the batteries from the controller and for 1 minute keep pressing all the buttons on the controller and moving the knobs.

    After you're done, plug the USB cable controller into your console and turn it on.

    Then clear the cache on the console and check if the control has any updates to be made.

    1. Go to the Xbox press and hold the XBOX power button on the console for 10 seconds until it turns off

    2. Wait 10 seconds until it turns off

    3. Wait 1 minute with it off

    4. Turn it back on

    After the console restarts and I'm at the console start screen, put the batteries back in the controller, remove the USB cable and see if it back to normal.

    when i push the button to turn my elite controller on and pull it off after it turns on it instantly turns off
    What do you mean you "pull it off after it turns on"?

    Do you have the controller connected via USB cable? Are you using a battery from the Play & Charge kit and charged the controller via USB?

    Does the controller work if you use fresh, disposable batteries?
