Controller won't turn off with rest of system.

This has been happening for the past few weeks. I'll turn my Xbox one off with either the controller or voice commands and after everything including my TV shuts off, the controller light remains on. I have to either hold the center button for a few seconds
or pull the battery in order to get it to switch off. Would really like a fix for this, seems like its unnecessarily draining my batteries. I have updated the controller for the headset adapter and have installed the PC drivers and used it to play PC games
if either of those is part of the issue.

Controller can't turn on Xbox One console!

Mine does the same thing. I do have a external 2tb official seagate hardrive but i think my console has always done this if put on instant on. When on energy saving mode the controller always starts the console up. when in instant on mode if i have to turn
the system on with the console botton and the rest of the day i can use the remote to turn off and on but the remote stops working the next day to start up the system. Get this the controller does not turn the system on but the media remote can so it has something
to do with the signal of the controller and i also have two controllers that were updated. Its like the console goes into a deep sleep and the controller cant wake it up

 

Xbox One controller not turning off after turning off console

I've only ran into this problem in the past couple weeks or so, but whenever I go ahead and turn off my console, my controller won't turn off. It only turns off after it's idled for some time or if I pull out the battery (using the rechargeable battery
pack). I tried turning off the system by "Xbox, Turn Off", pressing the power button, and turning off the console using the controller and they all result in the same thing where my controller still has the Xbox button glowing. I checked for available controller
updates and it says my controller is up to date. Anyone can help me out here?

 

I'm having the same problem except I never installed any PC drivers. Another issue is that the console won't turn on in response to the controller. I'll turn on the controller but the console won't come on. It'll turn on with voice command or from the console
itself.

 

Wanted to bump this because I'm having a similar issue, especially to that of bastion720. I'm going to list a few examples of what happens to me.

1. I turn off the xbox either by hitting the power button or bringing up the Console Off option with the guide button and the xbox turns off but the controller does not. Furthermore the next time I go to turn the xbox on I can't use the controller to do
so as it will light up for few seconds and then turn off. Using the power button to turn on the xbox and the controller is not connecting still. Power cycle fixes this problem but it always ends up happening again.

2. I'll be playing a game and the batteries will die and once I've replaced them the controller will no longer connect and I have to power cycle to fix it.

For both examples re-syncing does not work, not even when connected with a usb cord. Power cycle is the only solution that has worked but I would like to find a permanent fix.

 

Well Update/OS version 1408 (August 18th) update has appeared to have cleared up my controller power on/off issues with Instant-On enabled. In other words, the controller is now powering on & off with console. Now I will be monitoring the controller disconnect
issues while in-game to see if all works as should. Thanks guys! Be blessed.

 

Yes the update helps, and I to had power issues. I recently purchased a nYko charge kit which replaces the batteries and honestly, its's awesome. Hours of gametime, the controller doesn't have odd power issues such as yours, and you won't go through a 24
pack of double A's in 2 weeks.

 

Also wanted to mention that since the Aug 18 update I have not had any issues so far. Will update if I have any more problems.
