  1. Controller won't hold connection

there's a closet behind the wall my tv is on, so I drilled through the wall and ran my cables in the and my receiver, Apple TV, rf transmitter, and XBox One are all in this closet. When seated on my couch I am less than 10ft from where the Xbox is located,
the only thing between the Xbox and I is an inch or two of drywall. Despite this, every 20-30 minutes of play, my controller loses it connection to the console and then picks it back up seconds later.

With a wireless ranged stated at much high than 10ft it makes no sense to me that it loses the signal so often. Please help me understand why this is happening.

    :)

So, my controller won't connect to my Xbox and my Xbox can't hold a connection for 5 seconds even though my dad is playing perfectly fine on his PS4 with the internet. What do I do?

How to connect a wireless controller to an Xbox 360 console

If you want to connect a wireless controller to your console, follow the steps bellow:

    • First, you need to turn on the console.
    • Insert the AA batteries into the controller.
    • Now you need to turn on your controller by pressing and holding the center Xbox Guide button. You should check the batteries if the controller does not turn on. If it is a rechargeable controller, you’ll have to ensure that it is charged properly.
    • After turning on the controller, you need to press and release the connect button on the console.
    • You also have to press and release the connect button on the controller within 20 seconds to connect the controller to the console.
    Notes

When the controller is connected, the lights surrounding the power button on the console stop flashing.

You are allowed to connect four controllers to a console. Each connected controller is assigned to one of four positions and each position corresponds to a lighted section around the console’s power button and the controller’s Xbox Guide button.

    Controller won't hold connection

    Hi TedBehr,

Sorry you're having issues with your controller! This is from the FAQ in the forums on controller issues. This can happen for a number of reasons - the batteries are weak; something is causing wifi interference like other wireless devices or metallic
objects; the console needs a power cycle; or you're physically too far away from the console to maintain a connection. There are a lot of things to try if your controller disconnects frequently, or it won't connect at all. Each step is laid out in this
    article
. Please try them all, as often times one of them will fix the issue even if another does not.

If this doesn't resolve your issues, please see the FAQ here, and then post back!

  5. I have tried all the steps on that page. I even bought a brand-new controller with brand-new batteries. So far nothing has worked. I have a hard time believing it's a hardware issue but I'm out of ideas.

    Hey!

I have recently had problems with the controller with not wanting to connect to my Xbox One recently as well. What I did to resolve it was doing a hard reset (turning off and unplugging) on the Xbox One. After the hard reset, my controller was working as
    normal.

I cannot guarantee that a hard reset would work, but it's a great shot to try and fix the problem.

    Controller issues

Hey there Krazyguy! I understand your wireless headset won't sync to controller one properly. Try this: disconnect the controller and the headset, then turn the headset on, sync it to the console (press and hold the sync button) and then, if it's not automatically
in spot one, cycle which player number it's connected to (single press the sync button, don't hold it down). Once you have it spot one, then connect your controller. Does this help the situation? Please let me know, thanks!

Xbox One controller with usb problem

If you mean it won't turn on, please connect it to your Xbox via USB and then hold the Xbox button and the Menu button (3 lines button) until it turns on (10-30 seconds) and that resets the controller.

enabling two player on xbox one PvZ2

did you make sure that your controller is connected to the console you can connect a wireless controller by holding down the button on the front of the controller and also holding down the button to connect the controller to your xbox as well

    Xbox One Controller problem

This is a great reply! If that doesn't work, try connecting the controller using a USB cable, and updating the controller (if necessary).

If it still won't connect wirelessly, you can also try reconnecting the controller like this:

Press and hold the connect button on the top of the controller (between the bumpers to the left) until the Xbox button flashes.

Then, press the connect button on the console.

Controller stopped working; tried everything, support not working

Have you tried updating the controller's firmware in the Xbox Accessories app while connected with USB?

Another cause when this happens is that the battery could be dead or won't hold a charge. Try new AA batteries.
