  1. Controller Won't Connect After Network Switch

    Hello,

I recently moved my Xbox One into a different room of the house and set it up--everything worked fine (The controllers connected and turned on the device). The next day, we got a new internet network setup, complete with new routers, etc. All of the sudden the controllers won't connect or turn the Xbox on! I use rechargeable batteries in both of them as opposed to regular AAs.

I feel like I've tried everything; I charged the controllers, tried them with AA batteries, removed all other wireless devices from the room--they will NOT connect. The connect buttons on both the console and controllers do not do anything, either. I've used micro USB cables, reset the xbox, almost everything that I can find--- and I've gotten the same result. The controllers just blink endlessly.

Thank you in advance! Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

Controller Won't Connect After Network Switch

    Hello @OraclesClocktow3r!

Thank you for reach out to us here in the forum regarding this matter.

Since you have already tried to troubleshoot the issue, I would recommend trying some few more which I will list below. However, if your controller still won't connect after trying the recommended steps, it can be a hardware issue and your controller needs to be replaced.

    Request an Xbox controller replacement

Power cycle to your controller :

    1. Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds, until the controller turns off.
    2. Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on.
Connect your controller to the console via USB cable:

You can use a USB to micro-USB cable to connect your controller to your Xbox. Plug the micro-USB end into the top of the controller, and the USB end into the USB slot on the side or back of the console. The cable will provide both power and a wired connection to the controller.

If your controller works when connected to your console with a USB cable, continue to the next step. If it doesn’t work when connected to your console with a USB cable, your controller needs to be replaced. Request an Xbox controller replacement

    Update the controller:

If your controller connects when using a USB cable but doesn't stay connected after removing the cable, reconnect the cable and see if there’s an update available for your controller:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Under Profile & system, select Settings.
    3. Under Devices & connections, select Accessories.
    4. On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “” to check the firmware version for your controller.
    5. If it says there’s no update available, your controller is current. If it says “Update,” follow the steps provided.
    6. Once your controller is updated, disconnect the USB cable and try connecting wirelessly again.
I hope this helps you out!

    Xbox One X controller

If you plugged it into a charger (such as the Play and Charge Kit) that's connected to your Xbox One, the controller will still be visible since it's now considered wired. You can turn the first (charging) controller off after it's connected, or you can
plug it into a separate source, such as a USB adapter that plugs into the wall (like you use for your phone). Then the console won't see it, and you can switch to your second controller.

    Controller and Headset Won't Reconnect

I have the same problem. After timing out the controller won't connect. It turns off when I turn off the console so it is connected somehow but it just blinks and won't connect right

Xbox One controller broken by Windows Anniversary Update

After the Anniversary Update, both my wireless dongle and Xbox One controller (both OEM) appear to be broken.

The dongle doesn't show up in Device manager, despite switching to different USB ports.

The gamepad now won't stay turned on, even connected via USB. Isn't detected in the "Xbox Accessories" app.
