Controller won't connect after firmware update - doesn't work wired either!

Since Xbox Support cannot be contacted (greyed out mandatory fields issue) and Ambassador Support was a failure (Ambassador did not reply and closed the chat after 10 minutes of waiting), I am trying to resolve my issue here, although with not much hope.

I updated my Xbox One Controller using the Xbox Accessories app on Windows 10 to be able to use all of its features. However, I am unable to connect the controller using the wireless adapter since the update. I can connect it using a USB cable, but it does
    not work in games.

I do not own a Xbox Console neither do I know people that have one, so using an Xbox to restore the controller is not an option.

    :)

    DESPERATE for help !

for anyone with controller issues, this popped up in tonight's preview update.
A fix to address an issue for users who find their controller will no longer connect via a wireless connection, and only works over USB. If this has occurred to you, after taking this system update, you will be able to connect your controller via a USB cable and wait a few seconds before unplugging it. This will recover your controller and you will be able to connect wirelessly. It is expected that subsequent controller firmware updates will fail. This will be addressed in a later system update.

Controller won't connect after firmware update - doesn't work wired either!

I had the same problem, I'm afraid you will have to find someone with a Xbox One Console, I synchronised my controller with the console of a friend of mine and it immediatly promped to update. After that I had no more problems with the controller on my pc,
    everything worked like before.

If you don't know annyone with a console I would advise you to go to a store where they have a console and ask them if you could connect your controller.

Xbox one controller uses wrong driver.

I know, but you said the configuration is messy when connecting via Bluetooth right, buttons are not working just fine, when you connect it and map your controller's buttons via wire, and then change to Bluetooth, it doesn't change nothing?

Perhaps is just a glitch on the firmware update of the controller. :(

Xbox One (bought in 2015) disconnects from Live consistently every 30 minutes

Not sure if this is relevant, but my Xbox also sometimes doesn't connect wirelessly to my controllers and I have to hard reset. Occasionally if I connect via cord, it gets done and I can detach the cord and it stays connected. But more often than not, even
after getting positive feedback from the controller on a wired connection, the Xbox still won't recognize the equipment and refuses to connect. Repairing obviously doesn't work here either.

If the Xbox is using the same tech to connect to the wifi and the controllers, could this also be a problem?

Using a headset with a wired controller

So I have tried the method below on plugging in and out. No dice. I was able to update my wireless controller, but with the wired controller its not allowing me to update. Firmware version 1.1.279.2 is installed and it won't allow me to select the firmware
box. In the instructiona it says it should automatically ask me to update when plugged into the USBs on the left side, but its not doing that either. I also noticed that when i select "buzz" it wont make the wired controller vibrate.

The reason i purchased a wired controller was for price, because my wireless is getting a bit worn out. Is the next step to just get another wireless controller?

Mic symbol with a line across

The controller might be faulty or it may just need to have it's firmware updated:

    https://support.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-one/accessories/update-controller-for-stereo-headset-adapter

If the new controller still doesn't work with your headset after a firmware update then if console is brand new you might be able to get your store to replace the controller and/or whole system if they won't do a partial replacement. Remove your profile
from the console before taking it back to the store.

    Good luck!
