Controller update trouble

I recently got an Xbox one and everything was going great but recently the update controller prompt keeps popping up and when I select to do the update it seems like it is frozen at 0%. I have tried to reset the console, turn the power of and reestablish
the usb connection and adapter/headset. (Also no batteries in controller) and still stuck at 0%. Below is a picture of what my screen has looked like for the last hour or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

AA batteries work in controller but battery pack does not.

Hey SouthGaDawg! Sorry you're having trouble with your controller.

Have you tried updating your controller through your xbox one?

Connect your xbox controller to your xbox one system via usb cable, click on:

Menu button > settings > system settings > update controller

sadly as of this moment I am unable because I’m in the process of fixing my computer but that’s a whole other story for a completely different forum. But that did seem the easiest solution to my problem so perhaps I should try and fix my computer first.
If there is anything else you think I could try please let me know, otherwise thank you for your time and assistance.

I took it to my friends and used his computer and it did roughly the same thing. The controller was not always detected, but when it was it still sat frozen at 0%.
