Controller update issue.

I have looked high and low for an answer to this and can't find one so this is my last hope.

I have bought a stereo chat adaptor so I can use my much loved Turtle Beach x12's and I can not get the thing to accept an update.

Following the instructions, including all Capitals, and full stops, I get the same result with the much annoying message that says "There was a problem updating your controller". I turn on the Xbox, I plug in the stereo adaptor, I plug the USB in both ends
and follow the onscreen directions and all that happens is the light on the controller turns off and I get the same message time after time after time. After around the 5 second mark, the light will turn back on again.

Interestingly enough, when I connect the adaptor, it doesn't prompt the update, only when I plug the jack in it does so.

I have tried updating with no adaptor connected and I get a different message saying that the update is complete, but the progress bar stays at 0%.

Is there a way of resetting the controller only to it's factory settings? And if there is, would this solve the issue?

I really need these to work as I really can't stand the basic mono headphones that come with the Xbox One.

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

Controller Update Issue

My controller shut off as soon as I started the controller update. I could hear the power cut in my headphones once it hit 1% and it wouldn't turn back on. I checked and there were no loose ends on the usb. Has anyone else had a controller die from a controller
update?

for anyone with controller issues, this popped up in tonight's preview update.
A fix to address an issue for users who find their controller will no longer connect via a wireless connection, and only works over USB. If this has occurred to you, after taking this system update, you will be able to connect your controller via a USB cable and wait a few seconds before unplugging it. This will recover your controller and you will be able to connect wirelessly. It is expected that subsequent controller firmware updates will fail. This will be addressed in a later system update.

 

I have this exact issue, just bought the adapter and having the updates fail when the adapter is active.

FYI: The adapter is inactive until you plug in a headset/earplugs in.

Steps I've tried:

* Batteries out

* Long hold power button on Xbox to clear cache and restart/sign back into Xbox Live

* Different headphones/headsets

* Different USB cables

* Manual update with and without adapter (without adapter it installs an update but it still prompts after plugging in adapter).

 

Try this:

Power cycle your console- by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds.

Restart

Plug in your usb able to the console

Remove the batteries from the controller

Plug the usb into the controller

Go to settings>System>console info

And do the update this way. (Sometimes you have to press A to get prompted for the update)

 

Thanks for you advice ElvishCypress but I have done that too. Every possible was has been explored with the exact same result.

 

Scrub the word was and replace that with the word way and my last comment will make some sort of sense.

 

Is there any answers to this one yet?

 

Mada95128. I spent the majority of the afternoon today on the phone to Xbox and it turns out that the adapter is faulty. I've taken mine back and got a replacement and I suggest you do the same.

Just a small word of advice though. Please don't expect your new adapter to work properly either. The new one now allows me to update the controller but the mic and the 2 buttons on the left don't work. Me thinks that Microsoft needs to review this item
sharpish.
