Controller Update for Stereo Headset Adapter Fails

Same lot number and I tried with a controller that hadn't been updated yet - it's a faulty adapter. Now to hunt down another one before Tuesday...

 

I called tech support from Microsoft, ran through the same t/s steps I had taken. We have identified the problem to be the actual headset adapter. Going to have to get it replaced.

 

I could get mine to update with the adapter plugged in. I unplugged it and it updated the controller. adapter and stereo headset work fine but now i can't get controller to pair with xbox unless adapter is unplugged.

 

StaticMG, I'm having the same problem with my controller not accepting the adapter update as well. I unboxed my spare controller (never been used) and its giving me the same message. Weird part is, the adapter seems to still work. I started up a party and
the green circle lights up when I speak and doesn't when I'm muted on the adapter. I'll do some more testing when I can get online with my friends. For now, I'll just cancel out of accepting the update after I plug in the adapter, but I'm wondering if I'm
missing something because of it. Anyway, please let me know if you're able to exchange out for a new one and if the update works. Thanks for posting.

I can use my adapter, was able to before the update, still can, it just doesn't update. So what I intend to do is just use it as is for now, decline the update every time I start it up and just deal with the noise and static. When it is available again,
which will hopefully be soon I will order a new one and return the old one, but can't be without it at any given time.

 

Furthermore, if you have trouble with the controller turning on with the adapter plugged in, you will have to unplug your adapter, allow it to pair and turn on, then you should be able to use it again. I know that it does work wired when you turn the machine
one with it plugged it, just not on wireless.

 

I am having the same problem. Unfortunately, my friends are now saying they can barely hear my mic. If I leaved the adapter plugged into the controller when it's started up, then the controller wont sync. When I plug in the adapter after the console is already
powered on, it prompts me to update the controller. I try to update the controller and it fails each time. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps associated with it.

Very very frustrating. I'm going to purchase another controller to try and see if that solves the problem.

 

Just bought a brand new titanfall edition controller and had the same problem. The controller refused to update with the xbox stereo headset hooked up. Looks like it's the headset/adapter that is the problem. I'm going to return the headset and try a different
one.

 

That was the solution. The adapter was bad on the xbox stereo headset. The turtle beach X04's were able to update and are working fine.

 

For the people with astro headsets, astro is coming out with a firmware update this week that may solve the problem. Astro said they were having similar problems with the ps4 and they released a firmware update which fixed the problem. Hopefully that will
be the solution in this case. If you don't have an astro headset, Microsoft is addressing the problem but as of right now they don't know what the problem is. Hopefully they will have this fixed soon. I have been doing everything I know to do since this adapter
came out. I am considering just making my own adapter which is fairly simple, and cheap.

 

Also forgot to say the astro update will only be for the a50 and the mixamp pro

 

my lot no./date is 1404 and im having the same issues....tried everything but nothing works....gonna try to get another adapter....im very unhappy microsoft

 

im also trying with astro a50s as well.... dunno if that is the prob but im thinking its still the adapter

 

I have the same problem, updated two controllers with out the headset adapter, when trying to update with the headset adapter it says it can't update. So I know the USB cable, the controllers, and the xbox one are ok.

 

same....im gonna try to get another adapter today if possible
