  1. Controller update fail

This week I bought a Logitech G231 Prodigy stereo headset for the One. I connected it via the special adapter and the One prompted for a controller update. I did what the prompts asked. Connected the wireless controller to the One via USB on the port to left
side of the DVD drive. Battery pack removed and USB in the small port. The adapter with headset connected. It goes to the first windows that says; "Please connect your wireless controller to the console." while showing a picture with the controller. I press
continue. Then it says; "There are no controllers connected using USB etc..." The picture showing the controller now is left blank. Nothing I have tried resolves this issue. It somehow does not see my controller WHILE it is connected with the USB cable. The
controller itself does response to any input etc.. The headset works but the sound is distorted. The USB cable I use is from the Play&Charge kit. It is an aftermarket set from Pulse that otherwise functions flawlessly. How do I fix this?

    :)

    Initial update failing

What error do you see? Is your controller disconnecting?

I noticed on my wife's console that if the controller turned off during the update it would fail and restart. So if your controller/console sleeps when it fails just keep nudging the right analogue stick to keep them both awake until the update completes.

    DESPERATE for help !

for anyone with controller issues, this popped up in tonight's preview update.
A fix to address an issue for users who find their controller will no longer connect via a wireless connection, and only works over USB. If this has occurred to you, after taking this system update, you will be able to connect your controller via a USB cable and wait a few seconds before unplugging it. This will recover your controller and you will be able to connect wirelessly. It is expected that subsequent controller firmware updates will fail. This will be addressed in a later system update.

    Controller update fail

    Hey there!

Okay, you've got a lot going on here so let's see if we can untangle all the bits and figure it out! First, to clarify, is your controller an Xbox controller or is it also a third party controller? And the adapter you are using, is that the Xbox adapter
    or is it third party?

Now, with your current setup, can you try using the USB ports on the back of your console to see if that works? Also try swapping out the USB cable for a different one. If neither of those work, unplug all your accessories and try updating your controller
separately to see if that works.

Let us know so we can figure out the next step to take. Controller update fail :)

The controller update bricked my controller.

    Similar problem guys.

For months I have had a failing usb cable from the play and charge kit - Controller has to be held or placed at a certain angle for the orange light to stay on for me.

    First controller update was successful.

Second controller update failed as the cable completely stopped working, I can't get the charge light to come on at all, even when used on the controller which was updated successfully, the other controller has been bricked by the failed update.

    Update broke my controler

    Hey there SparseStatue335,

Sorry to hear about the issue with the controller. It sounds like the controller failed on the update, so we'd suggest trying to update it again. If that fails we'd suggest exchanging it for a new one at the retailer to get you back in the game quickly.

    Controller will not turn on

You say the update failed, but the batteries are good? I believe the controller can only be updated by USB wire. Try connecting the controller to the Xbox via USB, and then try updating it again.
