Controller Sync button won't work on console

So I have an issues with my console. The sync button won't work anymore as I am trying to sync my new Elite controller. It only works via USB. I tried updating the system and controller, battery is fully charged, I did numerous hard resets, factory resets,
and power cycle. Nothing seems to work.

Wireless sync button inoperable

my xbox1 wireless controller sync button is inoperable. When I press the sync button the status light on the console doesn’t flash and my wireless controller doesn’t pair.

On my other xbox1 this function works fine with same controller.

Is there a way to Sync the controller to the console thru software or other means that doesn’t require pressing the button.

XBOX ONE ELITE Controller - Not Syncing - Not Connecting

Brand New 1 day old Elite Xbox One - Controller will not sync.

Elite controller is updated, it received the latest update.

Xbox One Elite console received the new update.

Replaced batteries (Used 8 sets of batteries, Duracells and Energizers)

Plugged in USB - Works when plugged in, unplug after a few minutes and light just flashes indefinitely and will not sync.

Tried syncing via sync button on console and controller.

Power Cycled Console numerous times.

Unplugged console numerous times.

FACTORY RESET the Elite Console 5 times.....

So far this is a total disappointment so far! $500 console and the *** controller won't sync!

Sorry to hear about your console. If you've gone as far as doing a factory reset, and you still can't sync your controller via the sync button, then USB may be your only option without console repair. Does the Xbox even blink when you press the sync button?
if it doesn't blink at all, then it's likely a faulty hardware part which you can have repaired using this link.

I'm having the same problem, only my controllers tend to drop connection whether wireless or wired. It's ridiculous. I tried a factory reset without wiping my games but no dice. I guess I need a hard factory reset to see if that helps but I'll have to download
a bunch of games all over again I've submitted a repair ticket already in case it doesn't work. My console had issues with displaying when it turned on initially but those issues have been hit/miss. This has been hitting me regularly over the last 48 hours.

I found the solution which is dumb

The sync button doesn’t work with that controller, plugging it in and then unplugging it the console finally sees it. The controller had no update available for it either.

And yes the sync button works with other controllers/consoles.

Have you tried syncing the controller to the console? Hold the sync button on the front of the controller and the sync button on the console (on the left side just before the usb) until the light on the controller syncs.

If that doesn't work then try heading over to Settings>System and update the controller to see if that helps.

Sync the Controller:
To sync a wireless controller with your Xbox, follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button on the controller to turn it on.
Press and hold the small sync button on the front of the Xbox Series X console (located near the USB port).
While holding the sync button on the console, press and hold the sync button on the controller (located on the top near the Xbox button).
Release both sync buttons when the controller's Xbox button starts flashing. The controller should now be synced with the console.

Having a similar issue myself. Recently got 20th anniversary controller. My son changed the batteries and it won't work now. It'll turn on the console but won't control anything.

I synced it with my phone and it works. After that, I re-synced it with the console. It appears to sync, but no functionality. Won't show up as a connected device either.

Update: I just got it to work. Multiple re-sync attempts and leaving the console unplugged for about ten min.

If you have an older White Xbox 360, try using the Component HD cable with the 6 RCA's on the end & see if that works..

There is a Controller sync button on the console & you just press both the controller & the consoles sync buttons at the same time & the controller should sync.. Or just use a Play + Charge cable with Rechargeable Battery Pack & the controller will automatically
sync to the console via USB etc..
