This has been a recurring issue for a week now, and no matter what I've tried, it has not fixed whatever is going on with my Controller.

Xbox Series X Wireless Controller for PC.
I've tried reinstalling drivers, tried new batteries, tried USB-C to USB-A with batteries in and without batteries in, tried different USB ports/ and of different versions, tried many different theories and methods on youtube, google, microsoft, you name it, I've tried just about everything. This issue does not seem to be controller related, or at least from the experience I've had recently, where for about 2 hours I was able to play a game without experiencing any difficulties with the same controller, same adapter, same USB port, same batteries. However, the moment I turned my controller off, it started acting up again and have been stuck with the recurring issue as the title explains.

But with how ridiculously painful it's been, I just can't see what it is that's causing my controller to be playing up. If there was a definite issue with the controller, I'm sure it'd just not work, or else not connect at all, and vice versa with the wireless USB adapter.

    :)

Controller struggles to connect to PC, and when it does, it struggles with intermittently disconnecting every 30sec to 1min for anywhere between 3-5 seconds before "connecting"

    Thank you for the information.

Since we have exhausted all the troubleshooting steps, we both have isolated the case and that the controller might have corrupted firmware or an unknown issue within the controller.

The next best option you have is to check for your Xbox series controller's free replacement warranty option by signing your account and register your controller's serial number here on this link and follow the instructions on how to create the replacement warranty order.

    Hey there!

Nice to meet you! I'm Darhyl, a fellow gamer. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. I am here to help.

In order to fix this, you will need to perform some basic troubleshooting steps however in the event that this won't work you may need to have your Xbox controller repaired.

Kindly try to update your Windows PC:

Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings.

On Windows 10, select Update & Security. On Windows 11, select Windows Update.

On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates to see if any updates are available for your device.

Once the updates have been downloaded, select Install now to start the installation.

Following installation, we recommend that you restart your device so that the latest updates can take effect.

Then update your Xbox series controller firmware:

Update your controller on Windows 10/11 by using the Xbox Accessories app:

If you don’t already have the app installed, get it in the Store:

    Microsoft Store

    Open the Xbox Accessories app.

Connect your Xbox Wireless Controller by using a USB cable or the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.

When the controller is connected, you'll see the message Update Required if an update is mandatory. Install the update.

    Things to keep in mind

The Xbox Accessories app is available only on Windows 10/11.

Updating the controller over Bluetooth is not supported.

To customize the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 in the Xbox Accessories app, make sure your PC has the latest fixes.

Please take your time and let me know if it works.

Sadly it's not any better, but perhaps worse.
I've had a whole day of testing the controller with the cable connected to the controller without batteries with no issues whatsoever. However, I closed the whole PC down last night, woke up the next day and turned the PC on. I was about to start playing and sadly the controller has started doing the whole "briefly disconnecting intermittently every 30 seconds or so" once again.

It has come to this that no matter what I do, the process always somehow reverts back to the old habit of not being able to stay connected, or disconnects once connected intermittently. I've gone back and checked all the necessary moving parts are updated and it turns out everything is up to date. So I'm at a loss.

Thank you so much for your response. I'm glad there is progress!

Please let me know once the Windows Framework update is complete or if there are any available updates and then once updated, kindly check if this will fix the wireless connection for your controller.

Updating the controller through Xbox Accessories has yielded the most results so far, however, to update the situation.

The controller is staying connected via the USB-C Cable plugged into the controller and PC. This is a positive, it would still disconnect and play up before updating the controller.

The controller will NOT stay connected WITHOUT the Cable plugged in however. No matter how much I try to pair the two, they will pair for about 3 seconds, and then something just rejects it, and the controller goes back to pairing.

It was late at night when I was sorting this out so I didn't manage to check Windows Updates but I'm on Windows 10 v.22H2 already. There is a Framework update so I'm installing that as precautionary measures but I'm unsure how much it will change.
