    Are you completely sure that noise came from the controller and not from a different device?

    Besides the noise you mentioned, are you experiencing any issues with your controller? It's possible the noise you heard was made by the way a certain button/stick/trigger was pressed, or even by the controller's vibrating modules.

    Are you sure the sound is not coming from your controller when it vibrates? You described the sound my controller makes.

    Not through the controller for in game sounds, if you are just using regular headphones you would need to plug them into the jack in your TV.

    As far as I know there is no way to set them up so they play through the control pad.

    I would suggest using a different USB cable, and trying different headphones. Headphones that have both stereo sound and a microphone use a TRRS (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve) connector which allows for two audio channels in, and one channel out for mic audio.
    Depending on the manufacturer the order of the connectors, and what channels are assigned to each can differ, the main culprit of this being the Apple airbuds, but you may just want to try some plain audio headphones in the 3.5mm jack and see if that works.
