Controller serial number invalid?

Hello,

I have had my Xbox controller for a while now, the charging port is loose and 99% of the time it will not charge unless I spend a ludicrous amount of time finding an appropriate position for the charging cable to sit in it. So, I went over to the Xbox support to find a repair or replacement to which it asked for the serial number. The numbers are pretty worn out but I can still easily figure out and to no luck it says invalid?

Is there anything you can do? I have had my Xbox for over 7 years now so of course, I do not have a clue on planet earth where the receipt is and I know you probably want me to buy a new one but I would like to come here first to see if anything is possible.

Hello, so its safe to say if you had the console for over 7 years and its the original controller then the warranty is long gone. Best thing to do would be buy a new controller.

I cannot register it, because it says the serial number is invalid

i also wish to register my elite controller but get the error.

xbox one registered ok but elite controller serial number too long so shows invalid.

any help would be appreciated.

I tried to enter the set of numbers above the barcode, but the box won't accept letters. I then tried entering the set of numbers below the barcode leaving off the last three numbers, which the Service Center told me was an invalid serial number. Then I
tried the bottom set of numbers again this time leaving off the first three numbers, which the Service Center told me was an invalid serial number.
