Controller right stick up drift

Dear Microsoft I am a mature gamer who takes very good care of all systems, accessories and games. I have most recently been playing Destiny and completely out of nowhere my right stick auto drifts up and my character spends the day looking at the sky.
Now some might think that's funny but believe me when you are in pve or pve and trying for head shots I have to permanently correct the lift and that's also affecting the natural rise of the gun itself. Now I have never bothered to post anything before the
fact that this happened overnight needs addressing there was NO gradual decline in loose thumbsticks and everything feels solid with no wobble like others have reported. At £35+ I loath buying another if these have a 6 month life span. Please address immediately
either with controller update or something because I don't think this issue is mechanical at all. Has anyone else just had this happen out of nowhere without warning?

i have this problem too and alot of folks with me. I think that microsoft have to do something bout it. If i'm not mistaken it's a software problem so it must be easy to fix. I tried the solution microsoft offered thats the maually shutdown the console unplug
it wait for five minutes plug it in and update the controller. Nah thats not it, i think that they need to clear the controller from all the updates but that seems impossible so if there's anyone with a solution. Would be helpfull coz buying another controller
again and again is not really a (fair) option. Maybe microsoft is reading this mssg too and comes with a solution, would be great. thnx in advance

 

I actually just replaced my first controller due to this very same issue. I had it (the original controller that came with the xbox one) since launch. I also take really good care of my controllers and am not heavy handed whatsoever. I do think it is a mechanical
problem, therefore cannot be fixed with a firmware update to the controller. It would seem your only option at this point is to do the same as me. When comparing the new to the old controller, the new sticks are much tighter and responsive. I think its a wear
and tear kind of thing. I would also suggest doing this go to Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice Maybe start a topic pushing for Controllers built to last a bit longer. you would get my vote.

Yeah same thing happened with my Day One controller after couple weeks playing Destiny. Was kind of a gradual onset, until every time I let the stick return to center it always caused my view to look up. Not the same as the 360 joystick issues where the
spring memory just fatigued over time. Like yours the stick still feels just as stiff and centered as the brand new replacement one I bought while I send my Day One in for repair. Really wanted to open it up, but it's still covered so might as well get a new
replacement with all the Day One livery.

Wish MS had some sort of way to do advance exchange on controllers so I have something until I get a replacement. Didn't want to have to go get a replacement controller. At least now I have one from Best Buy with a two year warranty so if I have any issues
I can just take it in grab one of the shelf and pay $10 for a new two year warranty. Took a couple hours on chat to get and RMA setup since it was a replacement controller and didn't show up on the myservices page for whatever reason. Then packing it and taking
it to the post office.

 

I wanted to post here because I belive I may be having the same problem recentlywith my Day one controller, except mine is with the left analog. I've only noticed 2 instances in Destiny, and kind of while using the browser; While
in orbit the curser would drift upward on its own, and if in the game itself, would just mvoe my character foward. Nothing really sounds like it's broken inside, although the left analog doesn't seem to have the same click as the 1 on the right when pressed
inwards. Didn't seem to be any problems when I 1st got it, and again I'm only just noticing it as of late and I have no idea why. I'm not rough on the controls or anything, even my XBox 360 controller's analogs are working fine as they should be with the
same clicks. Something is definitely borked here if you ask me....

 

I also am having this problem. Day one controller started drifting up playing destiny.. so I quit playing for a week or two. The next time I used my controller the "A" button stated messing up... taking multiple presses for it to register. Controller has
been in a drawer when not in use... never dropped... I guess i need to trade this crap in for a PS4!!

 

I just started having this problem with one of my controllers. The right stick started drifting up while playing Destiny. I'm hoping that my other controller doesn't start having a problem also. I never mistreat my controllers. Has anyone had any success
getting an RMA for this issue? I never had this problem with my xBox 360 controllers.

 

My problem is my right stick wont do diagonal movements it keeps locking mainly on diagonal down movement I wouldn't mind if it was simple wear and tare but I refused to play my xbox one because i was having major issues with the console,my pad has had very
little use , ive also been trying to register my xbox for the past nine months access denied. why did I bother getting it back out of the box not funny in the slightest

 

Xbox one has by far the WORST controller EVER out of any console I've ever tried! I have been an Xbox fan since day one. I've had a total of 4 Xbox consoles. I just took back three controllers for the same left thumb stick problem, in the span of two weeks.
It snaps, clicks, and sticks while playing any kind of sports games. They are just made so cheaply. The plastic feels like it is going to fall apart in my hands, my hands aren't big, and I haven't been a fisherman all my life or anything. So my hands aren't
overly strong. But still it constantly feels more lose every time I use it. And I own 4. PS4 is starting to look better every time I pick up a controller. I think a switch my be in order. Sorry Microsoft... But for over all quality... You did something in
your bed that no one would be happy to clean up.

Everytime I go to the homescreen (dashboard), I have trouble getting back into a game or an app. I have to repeatedly hit A on the controlled and the game/app will eventually open after about 10-15 seconds. I thought I may have too many things pinned to
the dashboard, so when I tried to remove them the same thing happened when I tried to Unpin by clicking A on the controller (of course, I already clicked start when over the app). I have no trouble navigating to different apps on the homescreen, I just can't
open them. I've tried a hard reboot multiple times with no luck. It's becoming increasingly frustrating. Any suggestions?
