Controller randomly stops working, have to reconnect for it to work again

I've spent hours looking through support and haven't seen anyone else with the same problem as me. I've used 3 controllers now, all with the same issues:

1. All buttons besides the 2 joysticks, LT, and RT stop working

2. The controller still is connected

3. They all do this both via bluetooth or hard wired into the PC

4. They also do it on the Xbox One S.

I've tried new batteries, new wires, new bluetooth doggle, win10 says driver is already up to date, etc. all the same issues and has only started happening in the last 6 months or so. 2 of the controllers are practically brand new, with very little use, and just tried them out over the last week.

I've also updated the firmware in all of them. I feel like I've tried just about everything besides the actual adapter that you can buy...but I figured if it does it on the Xbox One S, what good would the adapter do...

I'm hoping someone has an idea for troubleshooting this that I haven't done yet.

I use the carbon black controller fine with my PC and on a console

i wonder if your controller is damaged from wear and tear

As I said, 2 practically new controllers perform the same way. Both wired and bluetooth. I have a custom controller that I use all the time so the others never got used.

I'm having the same issue, I'm streaming to my windows 10 on my laptop. The controller randomly stop working 20-30 mins. I have to stop the stream and reopen open it to get it to work again I've tried 3 different controllers and make sure each controller
is up to date.

Thanks I got it done by buying a new controller and connected it by USB-cable + just in case made a hard reset + reconnect the controller to the console.

Probably would have worked just by a new controler but anyway it worked.

Will also try to attach both the old controllers by USB and make a hard reset with them - pressing the reconnect on the controller then the hard reset before it attach the console again... interesting if it will work....

I see it as unlikely that both controllers stopped working at same time... should be something with the connection. .
