Controller quits functioning

I was watching Netflix went to the main dashboard and afterwards I could not get controller to back up or do anything for that matter so I held the guide button to turn the controller off. After I did I turn the controller back on and the menu for turning
off the console and turning off the controller was now stuck on my screen and wouldn't go away either. Had to do a full power reset to get the controller to respond to the xbox again. Hope this is a known issue.

That's a bummer that you're Elite controller broke I've heard it's a great controller.

About getting a PS4 instead I will tell you I just replaced a DS4 controller because it quit functioning properly. It happen sometimes , things quit working all the time.

It sounds like your controller simply lost its connection to your Xbox 360. You would be able to verify that the controller lost connection because the LED lights on your controller would be moving around in a circle, or blinking.

If you experience this issue again, I suggest attempting to
reconnect your controller to your Xbox. If this doesn't help, please come back to the Support board for further assistance

Earlier I received a message from a user [Mod Removed] (sorry, feel it is necessary to add the user). His message was some kind of p.r. thing for raffle tickets. DO NOT know this person. DO NOT want SPAM in my Console Message Inbox.....
anyway.... After opening his message I lost 98% control of my controller. Xbox One. The only way I could use my Xbox One was with voice.

I tried resyncing the controller, but that failed.

I did a hard reboot, but it took a hard reboot and unplugging the power before the controller was restore to full function again.

Coincidence? If so, it is an odd coincidence.

In reference to the user mentioned above, I blocked him, however did not report it via the console because the reasons for reporting are minimal and a topic was not there to choose.

If this person is legit, that is fine, however I do not want spam from unknowns.
