    Controller Prompted Turn-on


    Hello,

    Having issues turning on Xbox one via the controller. Since the one came out there's been no issues with this, yet I just recently bought a new controller and I've ran into this problem. The batteries that were in it originally were duracells that seemed
    to work perfectly fine. Once those ran out, like all the other controllers, I put in rechargebable batteries that have always worked in the past in, and fresh off the wall charger.

    For some reason the controller would light up briefly and turn off, and this would continue on. Following this occurrence I then decided to try the controller that was being used before I bought the new one and this controller also started having this issue.

    I've followed every step I've seen on threads and forums from years ago and some as new as 2017, but to no avail. Should I return the controller? Will this continue happening? As minute as the problem is; it's still something that carries frustration and
    heartbreak for a guy just trying to game.

    Any help would be appreciated

    The reason I post is I never found any significant help that corrected this issue. It might be somewhere in a thread but I found a ton of posts with troubleshooting that failed to correct it.

    Xbox one controller suddenly not working?

    I was playing Shadow of Mordor,and when I was about to go to my achievements my controller suddenly went unresponsive. The only thing I could do was just Hold the "X" button which would prompt me with the two options to turn of the controller or the Xbox.

    How often do the batteries in your control run out?

    Sometimes I think I should've gotten a controller that uses batteries. I have the USB controller with the pack to it...it can be real assy sometimes. I get the "Connect Xbox Controller" prompt often and that's usually at intense moments. Or I'll get it and it turns out the controller is charged.

    Can't get past controller prompt on boot

    Sorry to be a me too, but I am stuck at the "press A" prompt. Turning the controller off and on will take me to and from the prompt to turn the controller (so it is at least communicating), but I can't get past the prompt to press the A button. No matter
    what I do it just sits there.

    Keyboard not working on Xbox

    Are you using the keyboard to turn on the console, or a regular controller?

    My suggestion is to try using a regular Xbox One Controller (any should do, standard, Elite Series 1 or 2) to turn on the console, launch the game, then turn off the controller, and connect the keyboard and mouse after the controller has been turned off,
    you should then be prompted to select an account to use the keyboard and mouse with for the game.

    What worked for me: After reading the previous posts that talked about additional controllers I figured that was the issue. The game is prompting a response from the additional controller not the one you are using. I tried turning the additional controller
    off with the prompt screen and it would not let me. What I did was I went to dashboard and turned off the additional controller and started the game and no issue came up. Another solution to turning the additional controller off could have been to just press
    B button to continue without signing in a profile for that controller or A button to sign one in as mentioned in the previous posts. Ultimately it seems that the game just recognizes that there are more than one controller and one may not have a profile attached
    when the game is loading.

    Hi there,

    please try the following:

    if using a Xbox One console do the following first:

    Please press and hold the power button on the console for at least 10 seconds until you hear the console powering down and wait for the console is fully powered down.

    When using a Xbox 360,

    then power the console off as usual

    Next steps are for both Xbox One and Xbox 360

    - wait at least 60 seconds.

    - Disconnect power from console for at least 2 minutes

    - reconnect power and turn console on again.

    That should solve any additional controllers to be shown while they are not connected.

    You should use the Reddit XBox Insiders Forum for this issue.

    If you have a play /charge uSB cable connect it to the controller and console and try turning the console on with the controller. You may be prompted to update the controller firmware.
