Controller problem?

All of a sudden when I power up my controller my console is not Turning on and when I power down my console the controller stay on, what would cause this?

Yeah, i think that the problema it comes from the controller, but i don't have any money to buy another controller, well thenks for the help

Make sure your controller has the latest update. If it does then try a hard reboot of your console by holding the power button on the front of the console until it turns off then unplug it from the utlet for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug it back in and
power back on and see if it's working properly.

 

How do I check if my controller has latest update?

 

Go to settings, system, and you will see a tab to update controller. There's also a tab there to update the console too. Plug in your micro usb cable to the controller from the console and select update.

Did not work , and its weird it happened all of a sudden. When I start playing I turn on controller but console does not turn on so I manually press power button on console and when I am done and hold down power button on controller and click shut down
console the controller stays on and i have to hold power button for on 5 seconds on controller to shut down controller. Not a major issue more of an annoyance that I wish it just worked.

 

Did you receive the latest system Update? You'll find that in the same place as controller update. If it's grayed out then you have it but if it's lit then you can download the latest system update. Also check in power and start up in the settings too see
if there is anything there.

 

Yeah I have latest update for controller and console. Ill check in power and start up settings to see if i can figure anything out. Maybe something is wrong with controller but im gonna just keep using it like it is , not concerned enough to buy a new controller
or anything like that.

 

Also if you registered you xbox one on xbox.com you'll be covered by the year warranty. You can just submit a repair and send the controller to Microsoft and they will send you out a new one. You have to pay shipping though.

 

i am having the exact same problem that just occurred as well. I did go out and buy another controller thinking that was the problem and unfortunately the other controller did the same thing. This may be a software error that occurred after the update.

I have the same problem too, this must have something to do with the latest update because this problem only started a few days ago for me.

I press and hold the guide button on the controller and it lights up but the console doesn't start unless I press the main button on the console. Same for shutting down, I press the guide button on the controller and select Shut down console and the console
shuts down but the controller stays on with the guide button lit up. Very annoying.

 

I had the same issue, tried the hard system re-boot and things are working again. Held down the system's power button for about 15-30 seconds then unplugged the power cable, waited about 15-30 seconds then plugged the power cable back in. System now starts
up when I press the Xbox button on the controller and the controller shuts off when the shutdown command is complete.
