Controller Power Isuues

So my Xbox one controller died. I went to change out some (nearing dead) batteries with a couple (brand new) batteries, after doing so however, the controller will not stay on for more than 3 seconds. Now, I've tried the (nearing dead) batteries, my charger
cable, and another set of (brand new) batteries, as well as a full power cycle on the system itself, yet none of the options yeilded any better results. The other big part here is that this is the second controller to do this to me within 3 three weeks. I'm
just curious if anyone here knows if im doin something wrong, or if there's a way to fix it, or if anyone's even had similar issues?

I have had this happen to a couple of controllers. Are you willing to take it apart? (They are suggesting that you buy a new one anyways) If you take it apart, you can clean around the analog stick and that may help. Fixed mine anyways.

Hey there -

To clarify, what happens if you plug your controller into your console via USB cable? Does the controller stay synced and operational while the cord is plugged in or does it also disconnect? Do you have any other devices in the area that may be causing interference
such as mobile phones, tablets, computers, etc? Disconnect any/all devices that may be causing interference and try using your controller again. That is one of the main causes of disconnects we see with controllers. If your controller still disconnects with
the USB cable, try a different cable and/or USB port to see if that changes anything.

If you still experience issues, I would recommend a full
factory reset. I recommend the full over the option that allows you to keep games and apps because the Accessories app is one that you cannot reinstall independently to refresh on it's own.

Hey there Mudkip!

Biscuit is on the right track with his first two questions: Does it do this in all games? Have you tried a different controller to see if it yields better results?

How long have you had your controller? It sounds like you've just got a wandering thumbstick. I've had this happen before where my character would constantly drift lazily to the left (I know some maneuvers =P) and it was just caused by using
the controller a lot.

If your controller does this with all games and different controllers work fine with no issues, it sounds like you'll probably want to buy a new controller.

hi dose this do this on all games and have you tried a different controller?

also have you tried to clear the system cash? settings, system, hard drive, hover over HDD, hit Y, clear cash
