    Controller port takes in data but no power.


    When i use my controller with a wire it takes in data but no power. I made sure the port was clean and it is. I tried many different cables. I tried different ports on my pc/wall/xbox still nothing works. If i want to use my controller with a cable i need to use batteries which defeats the purpose. Please help. Google searches do not help, only shows vise versa.

    I recently had a aux issue where the male got stuck in the female port and so i tried digging it out. i ended up taking the headphone port out my spare (spare was broke in many ways, only used for parts) and putting it in my main. After digging at it, thats when it happened (the power issue), Is there any part in that general area i could have damaged in the process that is relevant to the charger port?

    I am not really certain about that but it's possible that it affected the other parts of your controller causing it to malfunction. I am afraid that the best option you have here is to replace your controller since Xbox/Microsoft doesn't do repairs.

    • Yes, you can connect the controller via the USB cable to a PC. The cable sends data as well as power.
    • You don't need batteries. The USB cable sends power and data, As long as the controller is connected to the USB port on the PC will power the controller.
