Controller over heating issue

I went to turn on my xbox one today and my controller wouldn't turn on. I recently got the plug and play, thinking that might be the issue i switched it out with AA batteries. With the AA batteries in it, it will light up twice then shut off.

The only way to get it to stay on is to plug it in but within 5 minutes the controller is extremely hot so i have to turn it off to let it cool down before i can touch it again. Is there anyway to fix this? I have a small child and don't want her to get
hurt.

no the worse thing that happens on very rare occasion is sometimes controller stops working or ui goes black or or wont read disc but only very rarely, as for heating issues, i leave mine on 24 hours a day and it has never over heated

I used a small shop vac on mine when the 2 red lights came on (overheating) and it worked for awhile, but finally had to send it in. By the way, resist any urge to send it to anyone but MS' "official" shops. My newphew took his to a "we repair gaming consoles"-type
place up the road. He did it cause they charged $50 where as MS would charge $120. Two weeks later his console gets banned from Live. The shop had to open it and MS dectected that the unit had been open and issued a console ban. Don't make that mistake
as well.

 

Sounds like you have some sort of resistance in the controller circuit. If its still under warranty have it replaced if not you'll probably have to buy a new one.

 

I have the same issue. don't bother calling customer service..they don't care.

they should have a recall for this crap.
