Controller of headset problem?

I've owned the xbox one for a week now and run into this problem a few times. Sometimes my headset will stop working when I unplug it and replug it into my controller, then usually after the headset stops working my controller will follow after and act
dead too. I got to do a reset of my xbox with the green screen to get everything to work again. Thought it was my headset so exchanged it at the gamestop and still have this issue. If its my controller that would suck because its barely old too. I have
no idea why this happens

got this brand new controller yesterday and have been using a headset and out of nowhere my headset just stops working and it’s not the headset it’s the controller because the headset works perfectly fine on my old controller and now whenever I plug in my
headset on my new controller it makes a loud staticky noice and won’t work

Xbox One Chat Headset not turning on

BOught a stereo headset as well as a new controller. wouldn't you know- the old headset works fine with the new controller and the new headset doesn't work with old controller.

Problem- DEAD controller headset port.

Can you try heading to Settings>Devices and make sure the controller has been updated? Also, make sure that you Assign the controller to your gamertag for better performance.

Where do you see settings and devices? I see settings but no where where it says devices

Ok found it, says controller is updated, will have to assign it to myself and see if that works

Im having a similar issue. When using a headset with the xbox one stereo headset adapter, randomly i'll lose the functions on the headset adapter. Mute, volume, etc. Soo i figured it was just bad. I bought a Polk audio striker. They use their own stereo
headset adapter. Guess what.... Same thing. Randomly the functions of power, mute, volume, etc. will all randomly stop working... Soo i went and bought a 500X. Great sounding headset btw. But guess what? Same thing. I cant get it to work. No function
control. Note, the headsets work, but i have no control over them. I've tried powering the console down, unplugging it, re-assigning the headset... No luck. Please help.

Sounds like a headset or a xbox controller problem ... do u have another controller to try the headset in to see if its the controller that is the problem? Or do u have another headset to plug into the controller to see if the other headset is the problem?

I would definitely try what others above have suggested to isolate the problem - try the headset with a different controller and try a different headset on the same controller to figure out if the problem is the headset or the controller.

If the pattern is correct your control or your headset may have a problem, if possible test the headset on another controller.

I have never run into that problem but their is two ways to mute in party and on headset but they both mute and if its not reading a headset and it works in another controller then it's the controller if not it's the headset
