controller not recognized on Laptop

Ok well, it has even gotten weirder. Ok so I tested out a second newer controller which was specifically made for Bluetooth and just like before it connected but nothing happened. But something odd is happening, I tested out while playing a game to see if anything will change. Here the thing, just like before I couldn't move or anything. But you know how some games will change their prompts for what key you need to it depending on if it can tell if you are using a controller or a keyboard. Yeah it first shows a keyboard button, but then i tapped a button on the Xbox controller, and the prompt changed from a keyboard button to xbox buttons. Meaning yes my laptop is 100% recognizing that my Xbox controller is there, to the point games are recognizing that. But still it won't let move and I am trying to figure out whether this is an controller issue or an laptop issue

My laptop recognizes my flash drive, so it obviously isn't broken. It must be a problem with the Xbox.

I have similar problem, I am going to bet your using a wireless head set. I found the controller plays fine just using the speakers in the laptop but if I turn on any of my wireless headsets I can't play for long before there is a problem, frame rate,
freezes and I am at the main menu and have to reboot the game to get it to recognize the controller again.

It is a Seagate 2TB for XBox. I did plug it into my laptop and it recognized that it was plugged in by an audible sound but because it is formated for the XBox it doesn't show up. I'm not sure how to run the diagnostic since the XBox doesn't recognize
it.

However, I keep seeing videos on youtube from the past where they used the xbox app and plugged in the 360 controller in their PC or laptop and windows 10 recognizes it.

If you're streaming games from an Xbox One to a PC, the PC can play the games with either a Xbox One or a 360 controller. But the Xbox One can not use 360 peripherals connected directly to it.

And of course PC gamers (like me) can use whatever controller we like with Windows.
