Controller not connecting to xbox 360

So I have the newer version of the Xbox 360, the blue 500GB one, and when I first got it everything was fine and worked perfectly. A couple months ago my friend borrowed my controller to use for a second controller to play games on her xbox. Ever since getting
it back it will not connect to my xbox. I can connect it to my roommates xbox and it works fine, but it won't connect to my xbox. It shouldn't be a problem to connect it to mine as I can use a wired controller perfectly with it and my wireless xbox 360 remote.
Also my roommates wireless controller was not able to connect to my xbox.

I assume the lights on the controller come on when you press the Guide button and the batteries are fresh or charged well.

I will also assume you know how to sync the controller and console. Some hints here :

It is obvious the controller works fine as it has been used on two other consoles. You are taking all the right steps. You can try the steps below:

1. Make sure the line of sight from the controller to console is clear - remove any obstacles

2. Ensure there is no interference - turn off other consoles, microwaves and remove any cordless phones (land line style)

3. Try to sync as per xbox instructions

The best method for forcing a sync for a controller is to use the USB charge cable. These are quite cheap and can be used with a controller even if it has no batteries in it. The idea is to make the wireless controller temporarily a wired controller.
It forces the console to recognise it.

If the console cannot recognise it as a wired controller then there is an issue. This may be fixed by clearing the system cache but its not a guarantee.

1. Remove profile - SETTINGS page (far right from home page), select STORAGE, then find your profile and remove.

2. While in you hard drive under GAMES & APPS look for any red or yellow icons with incomplete or unknown. Delete them.

3.Clear System Cache - SETTINGS page, select STORAGE and highlight a drive but don't select it. Press Y and select Clear System Cache. Agree when asked.

4. Be Patient - turn your console off for a full minute. This assists in resetting the console.

5. Turn on the console and download your profile - it is the icon next to 'create a profile'. Try again
