Controller Not Connecting to My Windows 10 Laptop.

Hi, I've been struggling with this issue for a little while now.

Yesterday, I wanted to connect my Xbox One S controller to my laptop, which has Windows 10. I tried both Bluetooth and using a micro USB, neither of which worked. I checked the already written guide on how to do it, but following those instructions didn't
work. Here are something I know about the controller, maybe it will narrow something down:

1) It is not old, I bought the console around 4 or so months ago.

2) The Bluetooth/wireless connections do work, since it works with the console itself. I also know that it even has bluetooth because of the mold of the controller.

3) I tried using the Xbox Accessories app to see if the controller needed an update, but even when I plug the controller in via USB, it stays on the "Connect Controller to Start" screen.

4) Whenever I plug it in with the USB, it vibrates for half a second.

5)I'm 99% sure I have the Anniversary update installed.

This could just be a problem with my laptop's Bluetooth, but that doesn't help explain why it doesn't work with a USB

Sorry to hear you're having trouble; to help us narrow this down further with you, would you be able to test connecting that controller, via USB and via Bluetooth, to a different Windows 10 PC, and let us know if you see the same thing? Also, do you have
an Xbox One console you can try connecting the controller to, as a test?

First of all, thanks for responding.

I do have an Xbox One S that the controller works fine with, and I did try following that guide, but the said problems came up.

I wasn't able to connect the controller to another Windows 10 laptop, but that was because the laptop itself has some sort of problem with the Bluetooth.

I do know that on my laptop, when I try and click to connect to the controller, it comes up with the message: "Check the PIN and try connecting again".

Windows Update FAQ and verify that there aren't any pending updates for Windows 10?

In that case, we'd recommend working directly with
Windows 10 Support specifically, as they'll have the best info and be best equipped to help with Windows 10-specific troubleshooting going forward.

Just select "Try the Virtual Agent", and then ask to speak to a person. Eventually the virtual assistant will connect you to an agent who can best assist you from here.
