Controller moves forward without pressing left stick

My xbox one controller has been randomly using the "forward" command from the left stick without even touching the controller. It does this regardless of being in the menu, an app, or a game.

Does this sound like a physical contact issue or can it be corrected with a software update? Is there a repair process for this?

Xbox one elite controller on windows 10, not working correctly.

For the first few weeks the controller worked great, but then started acting up in multiple games.

In Elder Scrolls Online, the movement will randomly be delayed and last longer than I had moved the left stick, making the character spin in a slow circle without me having to touch the controller.

In Fallout 4, the character will randomly move slightly diagonal when using the left stick to move forward, or overpass the direction I want the character to face.

The drivers and everything are up to date, and I've reinstalled them twice, along with calibrating.

 

XBOX ONE CONTROLLER LEFT ANALOGUE STICK BROKE

I have had my Xbox One controller since 2014. I have obviously dropped it, who hasn't? Recently my left analogue stick has broke.
It is still in place, it can move around freely - in a game like COD I can walk around in any direction. However pressing down the left stick is very faulty. If I click down the left stick to sprint nothing happens -
unless - I press down really hard, holding down forward. I'm wondering if a sensor or something is out of place so can't read when I am pressing down normally. And yes it does click.

I don't want to buy a £45 controller again. Could I take my controller apart to inspect?

Also I have another controller. I was playing FIFA and I got annoyed and I threw the controller at my floor - now it won't turn on at all so I guess that is out of the equation.

 

same here, started 2 days ago, does it in all games and menus, paid 180 bucks for a premium controller that has inferior parts.

 

Sounds like your controllers have developed stick drift. It is probably time for a repair/replacement. Just make sure it is updated completely. Disconnect it from the console and remove batteries for 5 minutes to let it reset. Once that is done put in
new batteries and test. If it is out of warranty it is probably going to be less hassle and expense just to replace it. Good Luck!

 

same problem my xbox one controller left stick keeps going forward and i have to controllers

 

I had 2 controllers that I had absolutely no problem with. Then when I tried to update the first one, it bricked and now it wont even turn on, and the other one suddenly developed this issue. It seems like it pulses a signal to move forward, because in Minecraft
you push forward twice in rapid succession to spring, but this problem with constantly moving forward has made that ability impossible.
