    Controller/mic issue

I am on my second controller and continue to have the same problem. For unknown reasons it won't detect the mic on my headset. Sporadically it will but not consistently and not for very long. Sometimes without even moving the controller or cord it loses
the mic. I am beyond frustrated. Like I said I'm on my second controller, which is about 2 months old. I bought a new headset today to try, a different brand then my other headset, same issue. I am not spending another $50 on a controller when the one
I have is two months old and has been babied and is in essentially new condition.

I have tried all the fixes I've found online. All the settings have been adjust properly, I've even done a factory reset of my console. Nothing seems to fix it and I can't seem to find a way to just contact Xbox without ending up in a chat or on the phone.
    Does anyone have any solutions?

    :)

  2. NAT is open / party chat doesn't work - "we can't find a microphone for these people"

I think this is a hardware issue rather than a connection issue. If it was your connection the party would read "Disconnected" I would personally try to barrow another controller and another mic from a friend and try them vice versa with your controller
and mic (mic 1 with controller 2, controller 1 with mic 2, and controller 2 with mic 2).

    Good luck.

    Hey Tmb!

Hmm. Do you have another controller you can try your mic on? Or a different mic you can try on that controller? That'll help us know if the issue is with your mic or your controller.

    Let us know!

You said you’ve done a factory reset but have you checked to see if there is a controller update available?

The controller is updated. Its just very fristrating to buy a new controlled only to have the same issue happen when nothing has been done to the controller. Its in new condition.

    Tim,

Your mic wont be detected for a couple reasons, could be the
    controller, the headset
, sometimes its our services, or it could be your router. The headset you use depends on how well your latency and upload speed work together to be able to display your voice on live services. If there is any damage to the port on
the controller .. it will happen with any headset your try, and if its the headset it will happen on any controller you try. Make sure you are on an open NAT type in your network settings. Also You might want to try a different controller, a friends, a family
members, see if there's any difference. If it is the controller, you said it was only 2 months old. That means it should have 30 days of warranty left. I would

    contact support
to see if you can replace the controller. Please reply if you need further assistance.

Microphone send ugly noise all the time

My mic usually has the same problem, but my Xbox Controller's mic port is causing the problem. Either the controller mic port could be their issue, the mic plug-in cord, or the mic in general. Feedback has also had issues with constant screeches.

Xbox One Headset, Can hear Others But Mic Won't talk back

I obviously cannot speak for the others in this thread, but I'm very doubtful that it's a controller issue. I have tried two different mics (a standard mic and a mic adapter) on two different controllers, removing and replacing about 20+ times per mic with
no luck. Because I bought a mic adapter, I did do controller updates for each of the controllers I've been using, with no issues, for over a year now.

    Mic Issues with Controller

I'm Samy an independent advisor. Welcome to the Xbox community. How are you?

Press and hold your console's power button until the console turns off, remove the power and HDMI cables for a few minutes.

On your controller, remove the batteries and unplug the headset. After a few minutes, plug the cables into your console, put the batteries in your controller and turn on the console with your controller and see if you can hear the games now.

If the problem persists, click your controller's Xbox button and go to the audio icon and see if the middle bar is in the middle and not all the way to one side.

If your active game or app becomes quiet or inaudible when you're using Kinect in party chat or on a Skype call, your Chat mixer may be set to focus only on the conversation. To adjust the level of sound while communicating, adjust the Chat mixer settings:

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, then select Profile & system > Settings > General > Volume & audio output.

Select Chat mixer, then choose one of the options.
