Controller left thumbstick

I purchased a xbox one controller (grey and blue in color) from the microsoft store. The controller worked fine for a couple weeks. I came home after work one day to find out my controller's left thumbstick was broken meaning i could not click down on the controller. My table is 2 feet high and theres a rug underneath the table covering the floor. Now, most of us know that if we drop our controller from a high height roughly double the height of my table the controller will MAYBE break. that being said how the **** did my controller work the day before and after setting back down on my table in front of me and going to work the next day and coming home and witnessing a broken controller? I try not to think the government considering they've been going into your homes since the 50s just to mess with your belongings, was going through my home to sabatoge my controller. Sounds ridiculous! Then again those painters kept messing with my curtains. Sooo ... how is it my controllers thumbstick broke if i never pick it up more than 2 feet high and never drop it? Did the government sabatoge my gaming equipment? thats not what id like to believe like what lol. so, how did it break!? you tell me microsoft! and I want a full refund and brand new controller. I will give the info about when i bought it when i talk to someone who i can reason with then again i am the consumer and i deserve a brand new controller considering yours thumbsticks tend to randomly break(ive never witnessed this kind of disgust before). id also like feedback from non-government agents and non-microsoft employees.
