Controller issue on PC

Hello all,

My old 360 controller died a few weeks ago so I decided to replace it with an X1 controller since MS has released the drivers. I received the controller a few days ago, and while I am impressed with the controller itself, I am having an issue.

The controller's input often gets "stuck". For instance, if were holding the control stick left and then let it return to the center, the game will still be inputting left and lock out the other buttons.

At first I thought it was related to the rumble feature since it would get "stuck" rumbling continuously, but the buttons/sticks will still get stuck even when the rumble feature is turned off in game.

If I disconnect and reconnect, it will work for a few minutes before happening again. I've tried a few cables, and two Logitech USB controllers I had with no issues.

Is there a fix or is the controller possibly defective?

Xbox Controller issue on PC

The top stick on the controller works when I move it up and down, but when I move it left and right it doesn't respond. Why is that?

The strange thing is though...it works some days but not others. It's been fine for like 2 weeks, and then the left and right issue appeared again.

I am thinking it is just worn out as I use it to play Project Cars 2, and as you can imagine, doing hundreds of laps in that will put a lot of strain on the stick. Is that what the problem is, or is there another answer? Any help would be appreciated.

I want to assume that you're describing a "drift" in the controller analog stick.

My very first controller experienced this after playing a lot of BF4. In order to run, you had to press down the analog stick, many times while holding the analog stick in a certain direction to keep moving.

If this is present the PC settings will show as if you're holding it down in a slight direction at all times when left sitting. You could attempt to have the controller replaced..... myservices.xbox.com

Is there chance that you could try the controller on a different PC or laptop?

That would help understanding if it's a PC issue or a Controller issue.

If you use the controller with a pc then yeah it will cause a connection delay and create issues but there is a special PC controller by Microsoft you can buy that wont cause the issue

Hi

As this is a new controller have you considered this could be an issue with the controller and not a PC/software issue are you able to try using and alternate Xbox 360 controller on this PC to see if you experience the same problems?

Have you tried controller on the PC, just to see is this a controller or Xbox issue?
