Controller issue, microphone isn't detected

I recently purchased and Xbox One S, and the issue I have is a bit odd. When I plug my Turtle Beach headset into the controller that came with the console, I can hear sound just fine, and I can hear my own voice in the headset (it supports monitor control),
but no one can hear me. I've ensured that it's not muted and run through all of the troubleshooting steps that were available on the site. When I connect a different controller, the mic works just fine. I had hoped that it might just be a software update,
but it states I'm up to date when I connect it to the console via USB. So it would seem that the most logical step would be to RMA it. Which brings me to my question:

When I attempted to set up an RMA, I selected "Accessories", as it's not the console I'm looking to get fixed. I get to the step where it asks me to enter my PID, and after I do so it tells me that I have no options for this device. So is there no warranty
that comes on the controller, or should I be selecting the Hardware option and simply explaining the issue in the box provided? I have no intention of sending the entire thing in for this one issue, especially given that I've conclusively proven it to be the
controller that has the problem.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Bug: Microphone doesn't work after disconnecting Windows 10 streaming

Okay, I just discovered an issue:

The Xbox Stereo Headset's microphone does NOT work when connected via a USB hub, even if it's the only device attached to the USB hub. The microphone is detected, but it does not detect any sound in the volume meter.

As soon as I plug my Xbox One controller directly into the Surface Pro 2, the microphone immediately detects sound.

I haven't had this issue before I updated. I think it may be the headset adapter but I wanted to see if anybody else had similar issues. I can still hear people but my microphone isn't detected. It cuts in and out. Any help?

Before sending your controller off for replacement, have you by chance tested your headset with a friend's controller to see if the same issue occurs there? If so, in order to use your accessory warranty you'll need to register your Xbox One. Once your Xbox
One is registered you should be able to set up a replacement.
