Controller isn't recognizing any mic

Can you elaborate a bit more for us? What type of controller are you using with the console? Is it an official Xbox One controller? What about the headset? What type of headset are you using and have you tried to use another headset or controller yet?

I bought a brand new xbox one-s controller so that it would have the 3.5mm input for a mic so that I could talk to my friends. I then bought the xbox one CloudX Stinger Core headset. When I plug the headset into the controller, I get no audio and the mic
isn't recognized. When I go to the xbox controller options, the "Volume" option is greyed out. When I try to start a party, it says "We can't find a microphone for these people".

I have tried updating the controller with the mic plugged in, but as it is a brand new controller, there wasn't an update available. I have also tried restarting the xbox/controller and unplugging the mic, but it still isn't being recognized as plugged
in. I have plugged the mic into my computer and it gets both audio and hears my voice, so I do not believe it is the headset.

I am very frustrated that a brand new controller and brand new headset that I only got because it is Xbox licensed is not working. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds to me it could possibly be your 3.5mm jack inside your controller. I just had to replace mine. Hope this helps.

My controller is connecting, but my mic isn't. my mic is a standard Xbox One mic.

Hi, thank you for the response. Yes, the headset and mic work with another controller with an older firmware.

The headset, once plugged into the controller with newer firmware, there is absolutely no audio from anything and the mic does not work. The controller does not recognize the headset at all.

Please note, the controller in question is a customized controller from Microsoft.

When you say "the mic is fully functioning", have your been able to double check by trying the headset with another device like a cell phone? Also, something else to check; When you have the headset plugged into the controller the Xbox should automatically
recognize a compatible headset. And, in doing so it automatically makes Headset volume, Headset chat volume and Mic monitoring available right at > All settings (kind of cool isn't it). At the top of the list of headset controls you will see Headset mic Off/On
. Make sure Headset mic is set to On . Lets us know if you continue to have problems with your microphone or headset.
