Discus and support Controller is not connected via usb issue in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; I am able to charge the controller fine.     I am able to charge the controller fine. When I try to update it says the controller is not connected via USB, please connect and try again.

    DESPERATE for help !

    for anyone with controller issues, this popped up in tonight's preview update.
    A fix to address an issue for users who find their controller will no longer connect via a wireless connection, and only works over USB. If this has occurred to you, after taking this system update, you will be able to connect your controller via a USB cable and wait a few seconds before unplugging it. This will recover your controller and you will be able to connect wirelessly. It is expected that subsequent controller firmware updates will fail. This will be addressed in a later system update.

    Controller disconnects when used to power on xbox console

    Actually the problem is not there when controller is connected via USB cable with or without batteries in the controller. Wireless seems to be the issue.

    Also have you tried a new cable it is normally the cable that causes problems even if it still recharges.

    Thanks for helping out. Yes it was able to update prior to the last update and it is a brand new micro cable. i am also having the sync issue on the controllers like most others, hard boot required to sync them

    Thanks for helping out. Yes it was able to update prior to the last update and it is a brand new micro cable. i am also having the sync issue on the controllers like most others, hard boot required to sync them

    Hi there,

    Have you by any chance tried connecting the controller via USB? A couple times myself I have had syncing issues, and connecting them via USB has fixed the issue. Hopefully this will fix your sync too.

    Yes, no signs of life whether the controller is untethered, connected to a charger via USB or connected to the PC via USB.
