Controller Home Button Not Working

When i use my home button It doesn't take me to the main screen. Side Note: When a keyboard pops up it doesn't let me use the keyboard at all

OK strange new development/observation

it appears if i plug the controller into the xbox via usb, than still the home button doesn't work, HOWEVER if i remove the batteries making the controller dependent on the xbox for power then the HOME BUTTON WORKS IMMEDIATELY! while plugged into the xbox
with a working home button if i put the batteries back into the controller, without hitting anything, the home button stops working again.

and remember the controller will turn the xbox on via home button even while not connected by USB...

what in the world is up with this controller?!

Adding to what NewBlacksmurf said, have you made sure that your console and controllers are up to date?

 

I am having the same issue.

 

I am as well but I turned off my Xbox and back on and now I am stuck with being able to do nothing it auto goes to the left where account and settings and all of that is and will not let me reset or anything

 

I started having the same issue the other day. Controller was fine early in the day and then home button would not work later that night. It will turn my Xbox and controller on. It wont bring up the dashboard or the option to turn off controller or console.
I have charged the battery pack, tried to use AA batteries and tried to update all to no avail.

 

Hey guys. If you hold the Xbox logo on the front of the console for 10 seconds to make it fully shut down, then turn it back on after a few seconds, this issue should go away.

 

I'm having the same issue with the home bottons on my controller. I'll try holding the logo down for 10 seconds, and see how it goes.

 

I can't figure out what buttons do what in Madden football.

 

Just came across this issue with the Xbox button not working. It was working fine just 2 hours ago I don't get it. I've tried restarting the console I've switched controllers and even went out and bought a new controller still nothing. WTF!!! Someone please
help!

 

When you restarted the console, did you just push the power button or hold it down? If you haven't already, try holding it down for 10 seconds until it shuts down, then reboot it. If you've tried that and are still having trouble, you'll want to start a
new thread so you can get the most help.
