  1. Controller/Headset unresponsive after plugging/unplugging charger

    Hi all,

PLEASE NOTE THIS TOPIC IS BEING ADDRESSED AFTER BEING ADVISED TO DO SO BY XBOX SUPPORT VIA PHONE. XBOX SUPPORT IS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS ISSUE AND HAS SUGGESTED SENDING FAULTY HARDWARE IN OR RAISING THIS POST IN SUPPORT FORUMS TO PROVE OTHER PLAYERS ARE
    ALSO EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE.

PLEASE RESPOND WITH BRIEF RESPONSES IF YOU ARE AFFECTED. I BELIEVE AN UPDATE IS REQUIRED FOR THE CONTROLLER DUE TO A BUG THAT CAUSES THE FOLLOWING BEHAVIOR:

Please read through the following and see if you are experiencing a similar issue as the Xbox Support Rep I spoke with claims they have NEVER heard of this occurring. I find this highly difficult to believe as almost every one of my friends online encounters
the same issue consistently and I have experienced it with two separate controllers.

    Issue

I plug in my default Xbox controller with the play and charge kit after I receive low battery notifications. Upon doing so, at least 80% of the time I will experience A) Controller becomes unresponsive immediately or B) Headset adapter malfunctions and I
can no longer speak to friends online (Mic icon disappears completely sometimes. Other times it remains, but I cannot talk)

The only work-around is to reboot which is highly irritating if you are playing competitively or not at a saving point. Everyone knows this is a bug that should not be occurring. Frankly, I'm tired of it and disappointed that an updated platform (hardware/software)
is out performed by a legacy version (ie Xbox 360). The inconsistency in Xbox One is an absolute disgrace compared to 360.

Long story short, I'm here to post this thread in hopes that many players will respond who have experienced a similar issue and allow developers to understand it is an ongoing issue and needs to be dealt with.

When calling Xbox Support, they offer no useful assistance per usual. They'll walk you through everything you've already tried assuming your IQ is less than their own although they're only reading off their computer and probably do not even own an Xbox.
    Just saying...

However, they did state that if I did not want to ship my controller in for repair, I should post here to see if others experience the issue. I chose not to ship my controller because I was going to buy a new one anyways. Reason being that the controller
hardware/software is poorly designed and after less than a year's use, the left joystick moved forward on its own while in its default position. *Another Bug*

I bought a new controller and headset adapter for my use and testing purposes. Guess what happened the first time I charged it? FROZE.

For this to not be a known issue, I find it strange that out of two new controllers and two new adapters and my friends controllers/adapters, all display the same behavior.

Please help make this Xbox Support more aware!

PS Controller/Headset unresponsive after plugging/unplugging charger :) I know the support rep was lying to me when she said she'd never heard of this issue.

    Thanks!

    Drew H

    :)

Clicks on Xbox One Support to post, ends up creating thread in Xbox 360.

    Another example of poor design.

Admin, please move this post to the proper Xbox One Support threads (Hardware/Accessories).

  5. Hey there, Drew! I got you moved to the proper forums. Thanks for the realization and asking for the move instead of double posting!

I'm incredibly sorry to see any issues with your controllers. To help others out, and so that Ambassadors or other helpful gamers come in here and don't try to get you to do stuff you've already done, I suggest posting again with the exact troubleshooting
    steps you've already done.

We are already aware of the controller "drifting" issue and have been actively looking into it. You can see Mister Quimby's thread on this
    here.

When you plug your controller in, it's expected to shut off its wireless connection and goes strictly wired. What you're experiencing might be related to a faulty connection or firmware issue with your console, not necessarily with your controller. I say
this because a second controller is doing the same. Have you done any troubleshooting for your console itself?

Post back with that and what other troubleshooting you've done, and we'll see if others post in here saying the same. We'll also look at seeing if we can get you fully sorted out. Controller/Headset unresponsive after plugging/unplugging charger :)

  6. Sorry for the delayed response.

I'm not sure what you would like me to do to troubleshoot the Xbox itself. No updates are available. I might note that this behavior with the controller/headset has been the same throughout all the updates.

If it's a firmware issue with my Xbox, then that has to affect thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of Xbox's.

Please advise me of the troubleshooting steps you would like me to attempt, other than sending my Xbox in for "repair".

There's all kinds of issues with controllers. All my friends online have acknowledged being affected by a randomly freezing controller or a controller crashing after plugging/unplugging their chargers. I know I am not the only one experiencing this issue.

I still don't understand how updated technology performs worse than it's predecessor.

  7. if I try to talk to my friends they cant hear me as if my mic is permanently muted when I try to mute or unmute no light shows sometimes my friends can hear me but then it goes again. I looked up this problem to fix it but apparently that if the mic is muted
when the xbox turns off then it brakes. if anyone has a tip to stop this contact me on xbox one .

I am having the same issues with both my chat Adaptors. Additionally, the vibration on my controllers will be shut off when the Adaptors malfunction and I have to shut the entire console off to get it back. EXTREMELY frustrating since I have a $250 headset
which now I can't use and have to rely on TV audio.

  10. Hey, I used to have this problem as well. I don't think its a problem with your controller or charge kit (i have no charge kit) however that doesn't mean your charge kit can't trigger it. I am part of the early update program (I get beta console updates
before they release) and I no longer experience this problem, so I think they are working on it and it should be fixed at some point. I don't think the phone support was lying, they are often behind the forums as far as knowledge because the forums are thriving
with hardcore gamers. Phone support is more useful for the things we can't help you with, such as issues with your private information (Microsoft Account credit cards etc.)

To update your controller go to: Settings > Devices and Accessories > Xbox One Wireless Controller > Update (plug in controller accessories before you update)

Best of luck, I know how annoying it can be.

  11. None of the past controller updates address this issue. I'm sure a new controller update that specifically addresses this bug would be the answer.

Trust me you're not the first nor the last for this issue to happen to.I have two brand-new Xbox one consoles in my household, that in fact do the exact same thing. I contacted Microsoft today via phone she insured me that this is the first time she heard
of this issue. She also asked me to check this form out and post my issues here so other people could see the issue, you already beat me to it. This happens to me while I play Advanced warfare, if my batteries are low and I plug in the cable and unplug it,
or replace the batteries I lose all functions of the controller. This is quite frustrating and I've had enough fix this bug it's ridiculous.. If this is napping to you, you need to call xbox and have them make note of this issues, cause it doesn't look like
it's gonna be fixed anytime soon..

  13. Controller/Headset unresponsive after plugging/unplugging charger

Thank you for writing about the same issue NOT4U2SEE. My controller literally just froze before writing this post. It's what got me motivated to check in on the thread.

It will definitely take some time for users experiencing this problem to call in and follow through with the suggestions from support (ie. posting their issue here). I believe you are correct that it'll take quite a while to fix this.

The point is, support is aware and they pretend they aren't. They know quite a bit of time would have to be invested into this update so we're left here hanging in this thread with no hope. Just have to deal with faulty hardware.

  14. ***UPDATE***

I spoke with support regarding another issue today. However, I felt the need to bring this topic back up and the rep did admit to incoming reports of this issue from players in the past couple weeks.

The only way to resolve this issue is to have it recognized as a mass bug, and then and only then will the issue have the attention it needs to be properly escalated and recognized as a "need to fix" situation.

So please, if you are a player and you even experience this one time or a hundred times, report it! Report it on the forum or call in. This is still a very annoying issue that remains present. It would be very nice to have it resolved.

We all know a reboot works for those of us experiencing it, but that's a step that shouldn't be necessary with today's consoles. Report it.
