    Controller headphone socket

Four weeks ago I purchased an XBox Series S. I plugged my single pin headphones into the controller and, as with my previous XBox One S, do not remove them.

Recently the headset mic would not work and after internet searches and trial and error I have found that the only way to solve it is every time I log in I must unplug my headphones and plug them in again then the mic works.

Unfortunately this will soon damage the audio socket so am looking for a solution to a problem which internet forums seem to imply is an inherent fault with XBox controllers. Surely this cannot be the case can it? Has anyone else had the same problem with the Series S?

    Thanks

Thank you for all your comments.

I reported the fault to Microsoft who very kindly replaced the faulty controller for a new controller and this new one is working correctly.

It appears perhaps that some early Series S controllers may have a faulty 3.5mm headphone socket on the bottom of them and that may have been the problem with mine but thanks to Microsoft for resolving my issue speedily.

    Xbox One Controller

The new xbox one controllers now come with a 3.5mm headphone socket on the bottom of them.

Yes, I believe you need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack to connect the headset to the socket in the controller for these headphones to work.

I have a 2nd gen controller (Dusk Shadow with headphone socket, no Bluetooth) and this was the first thing I did as soon as this started to happen.

Need to fix headphone jacks on controllers

Could be some faulty controllers, I’ve owned 4 controllers over the past 3 years and have had zero issues in relation to the headphone jack or adapter input socket.

Will a Xbox One headset with a 3.5mm jack work on PC, What is the Headset plug on the front of the PC?

    Hi Joni

On the casing of your PC is there two 3.5mm sockets, one for Headphones and one for a microphone?

A lot of modern PC's have a combo 3.5mm socket that is used for a headset as opposed to headphones, older PC's do not have the socket

If that is not a combo 3.5mm socket, you can get an splitter for your headset that will split that to connect to a separate Headphone output and Mic input socket

What is the Make and exact Model No. of your PC - that will be printed on a sticker on the bottom casing?
