Controller for xbox 360 not recognizing xbox

I took my controller to a friend'st house to play a game. When I returned home my controller no longer works with my xbox 360. I changed the batteries and still nothing. I unplugged everything for many hours for it to reboot but it still doesn't work. My
mom bought me a new controller with fresh batteries but still nothing The xbox remote works but it can only do but so much. I tried xbox support but could not get someone to discuss this problem. I am utterly frustrated. Can anyone please tell me what to
do? My xbox is connected to my TV using hdmi and cable. Any suggestions pleeze.

Wireless Networking Adapter.

To start, are you saying you have the Xbox 360 Wireless adapter connected to your Xbox 360 and the 360 is not recognizing it now? But, before it did?

Xbox 360 not recognizing controllers

My Xbox 360 has stopped recognizing controllers. It turns on, but the wired controller just lights up all 4 lights (constant, not blinking) and the console doesn't recognize it at all (no controller lights light up). I tried both controller ports and it
happens the same way in both, but if the Xbox is on when I plug a controller in, the wired controller doesn't light up at all.

I tried a wireless controller as well, but the lights kept blinking like it was searching for a console. When I had the Xbox search for wireless controllers, it didn't find the controller I had.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Please forgive me for asking such an obvious question, but did you re-sync the controllers to your console using the buttons on the controller and console?

If the Xbox 360 controller is a wired controller, then the controller can be used on the PC, just plug it in the USB port, and it should recognize it and let you use it. If it is a wireless Xbox 360 controller, then you will need the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows to connect the controller to your PC.

Is the controller a wireless controller or wired? If it is wireless, how are you connecting it? If by using the play & charge kit, then the Xbox 360 controller will not work, as the cable is only recognized on PC for charging only. You need to use a Xbox
360 Wireless adapter for PC to connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to your PC.

On your Windows 10 PC, I would recommend opening Device Manager and check that the adapter is being recognized properly on the PC and there are no issues listed with that device.

I would also recommend trying to connect the controller up via a USB cable and see if the controller is recognized that way.

And before that, I would ask that this is a Xbox One controller, or is this an Xbox 360 controller that you're trying to use?

How do you have the Xbox 360 controller connected? If it is a wired controller, or connected via a 360 wireless connector, it should function normally, recognized as an XInput.

What are the three games that you have tried? It might be game specific not detecting and we'll have to investigate, since it is working for other games, and thus recognized correctly by the OS.

I went to the internet and found several sites explaining that it could be done, and how to do it (obviously those did not work for me)... I must have gotten the wrong impression.... I thought that an Xbox 360 guitar would work on xbox companion. Its weird that windows recognized the 360 guitars as controllers but the xbox companion did not. when i go to buy a new controller, how can i recognize it as one that has x-input ?
