Controller firmware is wonky

An original Xbox one controller that I have since 2014 has been having trouble for the past few years, I have tried fixing it multiple times but always gave up. Don't know why I've been keeping it around this whole time, but I am kinda sick of it just
sitting there being broken. One time when updating it, the cord came loose and disconnected it, I guess it was the worst time for that to happen since it hasn't worked properly since. I haven't actually bothered with the controller in a long time, and the
accessories app has changed since, but it won't even recognize the controller anymore, but it does work in menus sometimes. When plugged into a pc, the controller flickers on and off constantly and the Windows 10 accessories app doesn't recognize it either.
It might be garbage at this point, but it's a bit annoying considering how quickly it happened and how it's my only other controller.

I forgot to form this in a question, I need assistance, google isn't helping me.

Unfortunately, if the Xbox accessories app isn't detecting it anymore to repair the firmware, I'm afraid there is nothing you can do, if the controller is out of warranty.

Check for the warranty status by going to https://devicesupport.microsoft.com/ and choose your Xbox One console (register it first, if necessary).

Now choose you have trouble with an accessory, and choose the controller.

When asked for the controller serial number, you can find that in the battery compartment.

It might be time for a new controller. You can find used ones for cheap in good condition.

I think it's time to buy a new controller and if you get the updated xbox controller like the one the Xbox One S comes with, it's much better in terms of improvement on everything. You could try recycle your old controller or maybe sell on ebay.

This sounds like the stick on your controller might be wonky. Have you tried to go to a menu then quickly turned off the controller to see if this keeps happening? Or can you test another controller?
