Controller Drivers

Thank you, exactly what im going through my self right now, i have windows 8.1, ive been ravaging through the internet to find the driver update because the when trying to update the driver through the computer it self it says cant find the software, "please
contact the makers of your product to find the correct drive" i went though the windows help guide also, i spent 10 mins trying to get that computer to figure out what i was trying to say before i finally got some where but guess what! they had them out,
one for 64 bit, and one for 84 i think it was, but harry herb was saying that he was going to take it down due to windows 10 coming out with it automatically.... its like ffs... if you find any thing please let me know,, so far ive wasted a few hours on
this because my xbox 360 controller just started to mess up... they dont make things like they did any more right?lol XD, good luck Mtaoraki,

p.s. The controller doesn't work at all if I use default drivers installed when you plug in the controller. I have to download an old version from here

There are two versions of the Xbox One controller drivers for Windows 8.1, one for 64-bit Windows versions and one for 32-bit versions (sometimes know as X86). These used to be available on the Microsoft website, but not anymore.

Microsoft haven't removed these drivers, they only removed the ability to download them via the Microsoft website. They only way to download the Xbox One Controller driver for Windows 8.1 is via Windows Update. Normally, the drivers for an Xbox One controller
should download automatically once the controller is connected via a Micro USB cable.

Windows 8.1 and Windows 7

When you connect an Xbox Wireless Controller to your Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 PC with a micro-USB cable, Windows will automatically download and install the drivers for the controller. If Windows is not
set to automatically download device software, you can check for updates through Device Manager.

Update drivers through Device Manager

Here’s how to check for updates manually in the Device Manager:

1. Point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then select
   Search.
2. Enter Device Manager in the search box, and then select
   Device Manager.
   
   Note Windows may ask you for an administrator password or to confirm your choice.
   
3. Locate and expand Microsoft Xbox One Controller.
4. Right-click the expanded Microsoft Xbox One Controller and select
   Update Driver Software.
5. Select Search Automatically for Updated Software.

 

I saw and tried all of that a few days ago, the microsoft controller dosent show up when trying to update, and the driver that I do have when trying to update gives me the error of it cant be found online, I have tried to uninstall it, to be honest ive
tried almost every guide I could find and nothing. If you could put the driver back up for download like the 360 controller driver is it would help every one out that is below windows 10 thank you

1. Go to
   Xbox 360 Controller for Windows. Select
   Downloads under the product listing.
2. Under Software & Drivers, select the version of Windows you’re using (7, Vista, or XP only) and your language from the drop-down lists. For example, if your Region and language setting on your PC is “English (United States),” you’d select English from the
   list.
3. Select the link provided for the download under the drop-down lists.
4. Open the .exe file downloaded from your browser, and then select Yes to approve installation, if asked.
5. Select Run. The Xbox 360 program installs the necessary files on your computer. You might be prompted to restart the computer when finished.

As soon as you plug th contril on the pc it downloads the right drivers for that controller...
