Controller Drifting/Disconnecting

About a month ago, after a software update my controller started to disconnect intermittently and some times every few seconds. Shortly After that, it began drifting or my character would spin in a circle.

Troubleshooting includes:

new batteries, reconnect wireless, power cycle console, different games, even bought a new controller and updated both.... Only thing I have not done is a fresh install of Xbox software if that is even a thing.

Problem still remains. I cannot imagine it's with the console considering it happens during wired or wireless attempts at gaming. I believe this is a direct result of the last software update and after reading the forums, it seems I am not alone.

Hello Microsoft, I need a resolution ASAP. As it stands now, I have a paperweight not worth its own weight. I will not speak kindly of this product if a resolution is not found soon.

Controllers disconnecting, please help.

My story is similar. After the last update, my controller just started drifting, disconnecting, or my character would just spin in place. Did ALL of the troubleshooting and even bought a brand new controller. Same issue.

This has to be something in the last update that has *** something up. I will be going to a Microsoft store to get some answers.

Not quite understanding what you mean by centerpoint. Is the controller drifting up? For steps on drifting controllers, check out our

Xbox One Controller Troubleshooter. Unfortunately for drifting issues, the controller would need to be repaired or replaced depending on your warranty status.

 

Another thread unanswered. This is obviously an issue with a software update. This many people having this issue at the same time should be easy to see. Not a single thread answered. Paper weight is the best way to put it. Im not wasting anymore time with
it ill just play my ps4.

 

I think everyone has gotten the the same runaround "troubleshooting" responses and there is no support from the tech team. Very frustrating and pretty sad that this is what happens when you invest in a console. This will be the last Microsoft console I buy
and suggest my friends do the same.

Hello All - I can assure you we have seen your post and we are trying our hardest to find a resoultion for this issue i have a few steps i'd like you guys to try for me - if these don't work please return and we will look at a different method:

1. Remove batteries from the controller

2. Plug the controller into the console with a USB cord

3. Hard reset the console (turn off, remove power source, turn back on)

4. While console is powering on, hit the bind (Sync Controller to Console Button) button on the left side 3x

5. After the console is at the Dashboard, hit the bind button on the controller 3x.

6. Profit, because the controller should stay connected now. Put the batteries back in and go wireless.

 

I have the same problem still my controller wired or wireless is disconnecting and reconnecting every 2 mins plz help microsoft

 

I tried this new method suggested by NRG it worked fine yesterday for 30-60 minutes then the problem continued. tried same thing today and wireless controller just blinks and turns off. so frustrating been a pain for 2 months with off and on disconnects.

 

I didn't think the "lotto"combo was going to be a permanent fix. Thanks for checking. Still no resolution from Microsoft just voodoo magic hopeful fixes.

 

I'm having the same issue this was not a problem before the update.Ive tried every single suggestion and nothing works,so it seems it's a software issue.

 

It happened to two of my Xbox controllers just after the 90 days. Thought I had stored them upside down on accident. So I coughed up $150 and bought the elite thinking the parts would be superior. It came in a little case and I've made sure to always
put it away when not using it. It's never even been dirty. Less than a month of having it, the same problems occur, left stick drifting.

Now I know I'm not crazy after three of them taking a poo and one being the 'elite'. So I called support to get a replacement, they wanted the physical receipt because apparently my proof of purchase via GameStop is not good enough for their warranty.

My elite is still within the 90 days so I decided to leave that alone for now... But I voided the warranty on the other two by opening them up to inspect them myself.

- cold solder joints

- poorly assembled plastic pieces not tightly in place

Now I work in the tech assembly and testing field and I have to wonder how Microsoft allows this? It is CLEARLY a problem on the manufacturing end. Yet, you only have a 90 day warranty? Leaving your customer option to buy another faulty device? Rinse
and repeat. Have to say, that's disgusting business.

I suggest you fix the problem Microsoft, this is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. Extend the warranty, or you will most likely be paying back a lot of $ to your valued customers.

I hope someone passes this on to someone in charge of operations at manufacturing in Seattle. You have a serious problem on your hands.

 

I have been having the same issues and this started after the latest update.I have reported the problem through the dashboard but I'm sure it will be overlooked.I have tried every suggestion I could find and nothing works.I really think it was the update
because until now it was never a problem.Please fix this!!
